Chivas USA’s best forward, 20-year-old Juan Aguedelo, was traded today to New England for allocation money in a move one Revs official described as “no-brainer,” but left hard-core Chivas fans — and that’s all the club has left — wondering whether the franchise had collectively got any semblance of a soccer mind remaining at all.
Agudelo lasted less than a year in Southern California, scoring five goals and adding four assists in 26 appearances for Chivas USA following his May 17, 2012 trade from the New York Red Bulls.
The U.S. international, regarded as a star of the future, scored on his national team debut and is in his fourth MLS season.
Chivas USA offered no reason for the trade in a brief announcement.
