• The Galaxy face the recently verbally assaulted Whitecaps in Vancouver (4 p.m. TWC) and could have key players back. Do you remember last year’s game in the Canadian city? Inglewood’s Jose Villarreal does.
• There’s little doubt Chivas USA need reinforcements. But do they need them in the form of yet another young (20) player on loan from CD Guadalajara?
• However, Peruvian defender Walter Vílchez, who started Chivas USA’s first two games of the season before suffering a knee injury, has returned to full training and could be available for Sunday’s road game against the Timbers in Portland, according to the club.
• One who won’t play in the game is Chivas USA midfielder Carlos Alvarez, suspended by MLS for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for violent conduct during last weekend’s game  against Sporting Kansas City for kicking the ball at an opponent’s head. He will miss Sunday’s game in Portland and the May 19 game against Real Salt Lake.

Meanwhile, the MLS Players Union has released its annual salary survey for the year.

Among the findings: Chivas USA is paying Canadian defender Ante Jazic more than $132,000 this year NOT to play, while goalkeeper Dan Kennedy’s new contract makes him the club’s highest paid player at $192,000 annually.

How much can a young American player expect to get paid with the Galaxy?

Well, Charlie Rugg is collecting a little over $35,000 this year, Inglewood’s Joseph Villarreal is on $48,000, Jack McBean gets double that ($101,000) while Hawthorne’s Gyasi Zardes tops them all with $173,000.

The Galaxy’s Robbie Keane is MLS’ top earner ($4.3 million), while Landon Donovan is fourth on that list at $2.5 million.

Landon Donovan, who has singlehandedly won many games for the Galaxy, missed a PK for a second consecutive game and played a major role in a loss for a change.
