Move over Portland: LA Galaxy viewing party Sunday at Torrance’s Smog City Brewing Company

smogcitylogoPortland may have the reputation as having more craft beer breweries and brewpubs per capita than any other city on the face of the planet, but Torrance and the South Bay are closing in fast.

So it’s apt that the Galaxy’s nationally televised game at 11:30 a.m. Sunday against the Timbers in Portland will be shown at Torrance’s Smog City Brewing Co., where fan group Angel City Brigade will host a viewing party.

Smog City is one of Torrance’s most inventive and creative breweries with lots of styles of beer including a special “Brigade Brew” that will be served Sunday.

The Galaxy could do with a little of that creativity against a Timbers team that is not the emerging force it once seemed. With the World Cup looming, U.S. International central defender Omar Gonzalez is out up to two weeks, according to coach Bruce Arena.

Consider this a training session of sorts for you armchair soccer fans ahead of the viewing parties that will pop up all over Southern California during the World Cup.

So bring mom along, bend an elbow and come cheer on the home team. See you there.
