Better Late than Never: LA Galaxy’s Alan “late goal” Gordon MLS rep grows

Forward Alan Gordon, who if memory serves was the Galaxy’s longest-serving player before he was shipped to Chivas USA then onto the San Jose Earthquakes, endured more than a critical barb or two from certain sections of the crowd (and press box).

Somewhere along the way though, the Long Beach native became a sort of cult hero, a bash brother who dished it out as much as he was bashed.

Notable:

Last week Gordon scored the 18th goal off the bench in his MLS career, the second-most in league history (Jeff Cunningham had 28). Gordon has six second-half stoppage time goals, fifth-most in MLS history. Gordon now has 22 goals for the Galaxy, out of 45 career MLS strikes. Four of Gordon’s six goals since rejoining the Galaxy have been either game-winning or equalizing goals.
