Video Highlights: Barcelona fans subsidize MLS as LA Galaxy lose another meaningless, expensive exhibition game
Over their heads: Steven Gerrard needed the minutes Tuesday (Photo by Staff Photographer Keith Birmingham).
Can you hear Galaxy fans now: Thanks, Eurosnobs!
Hey, someone has to pay those massive contracts to the likes of Steven Gerrard and Giovani Dos Santos.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena put the exhibition game in perspective, observing that unlike last year’s crushing loss to Manchester United, “we are not embarrassed at all by our performance.”
“I think us playing our full team for 90 minutes doesn’t mean a thing and a win in these games as opposed to a loss is insignificant, I don’t think it matters,” he said. “Did you see us play Juventus two years ago? Were you standing up and shouting that our league is great because we won an exhibition against Juventus? It is an exhibition, relax. It is good for both teams. I think tonight was good for the fans, mission accomplished. We have a more important game on Saturday; we are trying to get our team ready for that.
The Galaxy play the Dynamo in Houston Saturday.

I’ll let you decide who the last two are of after the jump.

Video Preview: 2015 MLS All-Star Game features LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane against former club Tottenham Hotspur at 6 p.m. July 29 on Fox Sports 1
Capital Cities will play a free concert in Denver Sunday ahead of the MLS All-Star Game the following Wednesday. The roster for that game was announced Saturday with Robbie Keane, Omar Gonzalez and Steven Gerrard (a Commissioner’s Pick along with NYCFC’s Frank Lampard, natch) representing the Galaxy.

And this all improbably occurred as the Galaxy fell two goals behind in the opening 25 minutes. Staff Writer Chris Trevino has the game story.

Surprise, surprise: Neymar and Messi Barcelona no-shows for Galaxy game Tuesday at Rose Bowl
Staff Writer Jaime Cardenas has the details.
You could see this coming (or at least this soccer blogger/columnist did).
Now, the Galaxy will say they didn’t guarantee appearances by any player, the implication as the Galaxy ad for the game shows (we added the crosses) is those two massive stars will play.
Incidentally, wonder what this will do to the secondary market for tickets?
We received the following information from Seatgeek.com before Barcelona made the announcement:
Tickets to the July 21 match between the LA Galaxy and FC Barcelona are currently averaging $113 on the secondary market, making this the most expensive soccer match in Los Angeles since 2012.
The Galaxy’s most expensive regular season MLS game this year, against New York City FC, averaged $52 on the secondary market. That means that the average ticket price to the Galaxy-Barcelona match is more than double the price of the Galaxy’s most expensive non-exhibition game this season. In fact, the ICC match is almost triple the average ticket price to a regular season Galaxy match of $38.
And I would love to hear what the Galaxy has to say about this.

And by the way, how is much-maligned defender Leonardo worth $155,000?
