Playoff scenarios
FC Dallas locked down the top seed in the conference Saturday with a win over Real Salt Lake, but the Galaxy are in the drivers seat when it comes to the second spot. They can make it really easy on themselves and win at least one of their two remaining games. But in the event it doesn’t go as smoothly as the Galaxy hope, here are the scenarios that the Galaxy are looking at to clinch that No. 2 seed.
As a note: If Sporting Kansas City and the Galaxy end up tied for points and total wins, then the Galaxy would likely own the next tiebreaker, which is goal differential. Before Saturday’s games, L.A. has a plus-14 goal differential to SKC’s plus-4.
