Although the LA Galaxy didn’t make a selection on the first day of the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday, the club announced two new signings, including 21-year-old forward Emmanuel Boateng.

After featuring for Sweden’s Helsingborgs IF, Boateng, a native of Ghana, will be added to LA’s roster as international, pending visa and transfer certificate approval.

The Galaxy have 26 of their 28 roster spots filled for 2016 after also signing forward Mike Magee on Thursday.

“Emmanuel is a talented, young, attacking player who will add valuable depth to our offense,” Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena said in a statement. “He will continue to develop as a player and we are excited to add him to our roster.”

Boateng was named 2012 Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year while attending the Cate School, a boarding school in Carpinteria. He earned a scholarship to the school at 15 years old after joining the Right to Dream Academy, a soccer development program in Africa.

He played one year of soccer at UC Santa Barbara and signed his first professional contract with Helsingborgs in 2013. He scored four goals in 37 appearances with the club.

The LA Galaxy announced the signing of forward Mike Magee on Thursday, welcoming the MLS veteran back to the team for his second stint.

Magee played in LA from 2009-13, winning two MLS Cups with the Galaxy before joining the Chicago Fire. He returns to LA after three years with the Fire, including a MLS MVP-winning campaign in 2013.

“Mike has shown that he is one of the most versatile and effective players in our league,” Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena said in a statement. “He is familiar with our club and will be a key part of our team on and off the field. We look forward to Mike joining to our roster.”

Magee was traded to the Fire, his hometown team, in 2013 in exchange for Robbie Rogers, who recently signed a contract extension with the Galaxy. Magee has scored 64 goals in 286 MLS appearances in his 13-year career, adding 34 assists.

The Galaxy officially announced the re-signing of forward Alan Gordon on Monday, confirming an Instagram post the 34-year-old posted over the weekend. Gordon was part of MLS’ first-ever free-agency class, but was considered a favorite to re-sign with LA during the offseason.

In 29 appearances and seven starts, Gordon scored five MLS goals last year, three of which came in game-winning fashion. He also scored four goals in CONCACAF Champions League play.

He started his MLS career with the Galaxy in 2004, but bounced to Chivas USA, Toronto FC and San Jose before rejoining the Galaxy midway through the 2014 season. He earned a call-up to the U.S. men’s national team in 2015 for the Gold Cup, appearing in a semifinal match against Jamaica. He’s on the roster for the national team’s 2018 World Cup qualifying matches.

The Galaxy have 24 of their 28 roster spots filled after Gordon’s signing.
