Life without Robbie Keane hasn’t been all that bad for the L.A. Galaxy. With their star striker on the bench after knee surgery, the Galaxy (4-1-2) are on a five-game undefeated streak heading into Sunday’s road matchup against Sporting Kansas City (5 p.m., Fox Sports 1).

Giovani dos Santos is coming into form, having scored three goals with two assists combined in the past two victories. Midfielder Emmanuel Boateng was a revelation against Salt Lake, scoring once and notching two assists. The Galaxy have scored nine goals in the past two games, a 4-1 win over Houston on the road and a 5-2 victory at home over Real Salt Lake.

After struggling on the road last season (2-9-6 in road games), L.A. is a cautiously optimistic 1-1-1 through their first three way games of 2016. Improving on the road was a point of emphasis for the Galaxy during the offseason. Being successful away from StubHub Center comes down to a strong mentality, midfielder Mike Magee said.

“Luckily we have the quality and that are willing to work and willing to work for each other,” he said. “Things get tough on the road, hostile environments and good teams. If you have a group of guys not willing to run for each other, then that’s a problem. Luckily we don’t have that problem.”

Midfielder Steven Gerrard’s status for the game is questionable after he picked up a minor injury late in the week. Gerrard trained fully Thursday, but was held out Friday. Midfielder Sebastian Lletget, who missed last week’s game with a groin injury, is healthy for the road trip.
