*U.S. Soccer has announced that tickets for the first U.S. World Cup qualifying match June 15 in Carson against Barbados go on sale at noon Sunday.

Tickets are $19-$66. Call (213)-480-3232.

*The TV schedule for Euro 2008 is out.

There will be five games on ESPN Classic, 17 on ESPN2 and seven on ESPN. ABC will broadcast two matches - a quarterfinal June 21 and the Euro 2008 title match June 29.

Games are generally at 8:50 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. daily. Time to take the month off?

The title game will be preceded by the noon Galaxy-D.C. United game.

*Fox Soccer Channel will show all 16 games over the 10-day Toulon International Tournament May 20-29 including the three U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team games.

The U.S. games:

9:30 a.m. May 23 Vs. Ivory Coast

With their final game of the season sadly only available on the pricey Setanta channel, American soccer fans will still be pulling for Fulhamerica to make an unlikely escape from relegation. The team will ensure their safety with a win Saturday over Portsmouth. Here's a preview.

Loyola Marymount announced the signing of three more players: defender Adam Jackson (Palos Verdes High); goalkeeper Max Young (South Torrance High); and midfielder Fernando Barba (Animo).

Finally, W-League expansion team Pali Blues have announced the signing of 2006 Big East Defender of the Year Carrie Dew (Notre Dame).

The Blues open their season Saturday in Ventura.

I'll have more later today on all the local soccer action in an around LA this weekend.

Euro 2008 Odds From the Palms Sports Book

While I continue to decompress from Vegas, thought I'd share the odds from the Palms Casino on Euro 2008.

Germany and Italy are joint favorites at 4-1, while England fans will surely believe Croatia are good value at 10-1 after the Croats punted the Brits from the competition.

Here's the rest of the field:
Spain 5-1.
France 7-1.
Portugal 8-1.
Holland 10-1.
Czech Republic 12-1.
Switzerland 18-1.
Greece 25-1.
Sweden 25-1.
Turkey 35-1.
Russia 28-1.
Poland 40-1.
Romania 45-1.
Austria 75-1.

LA is specifically mentioned in this story.

How about a Manchester United-Liverpool, Galaxy-Chivas USA doubleheader broadcast live worldwide from the Coliseum?

Finally, in the least surprsing news of the day so far, Aston Villa have confirmed they are not giving up the chase for Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Note the new name for the Goats.

Friday College Gameday & More

The UCLA women's team plays at 7 tonight at Drake Stadium (kick off was pushed back an hour to accommodate TV in the Pacific Northwest, although there's no local broadcast) against Portland with a place in the final four at stake.

The two teams are arguably the hottest in the country right now with the Bruins taking a 16-match winning streak into the game, while the Pilots have won 11 in a row.

The Daily Bruin has a preview.

Tickets are $10 adults and $8 for youths and students.

The USC women face the tall order of beating West Virginia on the Mountaineers' home turf today in their bid for a place in the final four.

The Daily Trojan has a preview.

David Beckham continues to wow the Kiwis in advance of Saturday's game against the Wellington Phoenix.

He'll impress even more if he can duplicate the goal he scored against Sydney:

Galaxy Ins and Outs: Euro 2008 & MLS Expansion Draft

David Beckham will stay with the Galaxy all summer next year after England today ineptly backed their way out of Euro 2008, despite Becks getting an assist in a 3-2 loss to Croatia.

That was about the only silver lining for the Galaxy's English fans, although the 200 crazy Croats I watched the game with in San Pedro were pretty happy. I'll have more on that in a story in Thursday's Daily Breeze.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Earthquakes went shopping in the pre-Thanksgiving sale known as the MLS Expansion draft and picked up Galaxy supersub Gavin Glinton and sometimes Chivas USA starting defender Jason Hernandez among others.

From the Galaxy press release:

Glinton finished the 2007 season tied for third on the Galaxy with a career-high four goals in 19 games. Used primarily off the bench, Glinton started just three of his 19 games but still managed to score a number of crucial goals for the club, including three during the Galaxy’s late season, seven-game unbeaten streak. Two of those goals were game-winners while the other gave LA the lead late on in the eventual 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake on Sept. 19.

Glinton appeared in 51 career games for the Galaxy during two stints with the club. Originally drafted by the Galaxy in 2002, he won the MLS Cup as a rookie after scoring once in 22 games. Midway through the 2003 season, Glinton was dealt to Dallas. After spending some time as a college soccer coach and in the USL First Division, Glinton return to the Galaxy late last season, playing in one game.
