What's the key to ending violence?

Gang violence continues to plague communities throughout the Inland Valley, most recently in Pomona, where 3-year-old Ethan Esparza was killed on the front lawn of his grandparents' home, the victim of a drive-by shooting. What can Inland Valley residents do to end the scourge of violence?

Move to a safer community.

Get the police involved in a community foot patrol.

at risk teens are easy to find, these teens need to be assembled and educated by former gang members of the dangers that await them in prison.they don't know what monsters are around the corner unless someone that has been around the corner tells them.

Many youth are influenced by older gang members, some are good influences and some are bad. Many of the bad influences stay bad because society closes all the doors to do better. You want the ex-con to change his ways and become a productive part of society, but how can he if no one will hire him because he's a convicted felon? His family is hungry also and he will do what ever he has to to feed his children. So if you want these felons to stop committing crimes then the system needs to change and get these people some jobs so they can be a positive influence instead of a negative.

youth often join gangs to feel wanted or apart of something. The truth is that alot of or children today are growing up without structure or guidance in their lives. Some children have to help raise their siblings, some have parents that work over time just to provide proper living. The solution to the problem needs to start with the youth, having more speakers come to the schools, more after school programs, getting parents involved.

First of all I send my condolences to the families who have lost innocent family members. These people should not have died a violent death.

Next, the problem begins in the homes of the perpetrators. The police cannot be everywhere guarding everyone. Parents need to raise their kids properly and not depend on society to the job for them. If you can't be there to take care of them then don't have them! The police need to be allowed to do their job and not be protested against when they start arresting gang bangers and gang banger look-a-likes. Parents warn your young sons to be cautions about who they speak to, look at and especially how they dress. Also, raise your daughters so they don't get knocked up out of wedlock and raise more potential gang bangers. We all know that a kid growing up without two parents will most likely wind up in gangs, prision and produce more kids out of wedlock.

It is not the job of the City to raise your kids for you. YOU need to provide afterschool supervision and activities and if you can't, then don't have kids until you can support them and be home to take care of them.

Our organization Kids WORLDWYD has previously accepted a Community Service award given by the Pomona Unified School District. We host free basketball workouts @ Garey High School to help kids in the area to stay in a positive environment. We have assisted quite a few Pomnona students in becoming college students. What we can do is quit blaming others and look in the mirror. "Johnny" is not an angel! Don't make excuses for your children and teach them respect. Maybe this is what we get when we tie the cops hands and the parents hands when "Johnny" gets caught doing something wrong and there are no consequences.
When I grew up I was told I could not get a job if I was a felon, had long hair and tattoo's. If you quack like a duck, walk like a duck and water rolls of your back you are a duck. PARENTS have to teach their children about repecting others and themselves and teach them it is not ok to look like a DUCK!

gang violence will never end and it will continue it will only inprove if we have all the areas such as kingsley and holt secure because its use for drug activities prostition and gang activities.and if we have law enforcement lookin out and doing there job it will work.neighborhood watch is also a good idea for everyone in pomona to do because people attemp to steal cars stereos tools and anything that they can find.
