Here's a look at what's going on out there today, Sept. 16:
Thanks to a new computer system, Little Company of Mary Hospital caught about 80 would-be medicine dosage mistakes in the last month. The $2.5 million system prevents human error in pharmacology -- like what happened in November at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where staff accidentally gave life-threatening doses of blood thinner to actor Dennis Quaid's infant twins.
El Segundo is almost ready for its close-up: The City Council there is set tonight to approve some changes to its regulations over filming in town. The revisions are supposed to ease residents' frustration over noise, traffic and other disruptions that were escalating two years ago, but apparently have settled anyway.
Harbor
area residents, lock your doors! Police were hopping there Monday,
arresting a burglar, car thieves and investigating the death of a
woman found floating in the ocean. Also, over the weekend, two people
died there in separate killings.
