John Zlatic of San Pedro wanted to express his gratitude to Sage House, an adult day care center where his wife, Verena, is a participant. So he organized a fund-raiser dance for this Saturday to benefit the center that provides supervised activities and care for adults who have Alzheimer's or other disabilities.
The center, at 138 S. Bandini St., is under the auspices of the Salvation Army and opened in July 1996, originally in downtown San Pedro in leased space at the First United Methodist Church.
With the help of his friends at the Dalmatian-American Club, Zlatic has put together "The Last Days of Summer Dance." The dance (tickets are $25 each, all proceeds go to Sage House) will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m Saturday (Sept. 27) at the Dalmatian-American Club, 1739 W. 17th St. The 110 South Band will play hits from the 1950s and 1960s.
So celebrate the oldies and benefit a good cause all at the same time. You can call 310-831-2629 or 310-832-6031 for tickets and information.
