Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (left) will hold a rally at the Home Depot Center in Carson on Saturday, Oct. 4.Palin, who has drawn huge crowds since being named the Republican vice presidential nominee, will speak in the HDC tennis stadium (below), which seats about 13,000.
She was originally scheduled to speak tomorrow in Orange County, and organizers were planning to distribute as many as 15,000 tickets for that event.
But the rally was postponed so Palin could attend the United Nations General Assembly this week.
Palin has been credited with energizing Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, especially among social conservatives.
She is also expected to attend two fundraisers during her swing through California.
The rally will begin at 2 p.m. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the organizers say that all attendees should be seated by 1:30 p.m.
To get tickets, send an email to california@johnmccain.com or stop by McCain Victory Headquarters at 23211 Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance. Limit five per person.
VIP tickets will be given to volunteers who make at least 100 calls at a McCain phone bank.Palin has been drawing bigger crowds than McCain. At a retirement community in Central Florida on Sunday, she drew anywhere from 25,000 to 60,000 supporters.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the line was quite long:
The line to see Palin passed the Old Mill Playhouse with the marquee that said "The Villages Welcome Governor Palin." It went by the 2-for-1 beer tents and passed the vendors that sold $20 baby-girl pink T-shirts and buttons -- 3 for $10 -- that said, "I'm Proud to Be Voting for the Hot Chick."
It was one long, simmering line of Palin true believers who see in John McCain's vice-presidential pick a little of themselves.
