Here's what's waving out there:

Gardena residents might want to invest in belts. The City Council there is set tomorrow to discuss an an ordinance that would make it illegal for folks to wear saggy pants that hang below the waist and expose skin or underwear.

After building a school for orphans in Mexico, members of a Manhattan Beach church are now setting their sights on a vocational center for teens there.

Discontent continues at Carson's Delores Street Elementary School, where a long-embattled principal is back with a promise to focus on instruction and student achievement, along with strict adherence to district policies - a stance that rankled faculty calling for her ouster.

When you need a bathroom, you really need a bathroom. Good thing a Gardena business is teaching contractors how to remodel washrooms in a week.

No hazing, please. Instead, cordially welcome the Breeze's new teen columnists behind the weekly installments of "The Freshman." Two local students will share the task of filling in South Bay readers about their first year of college. Read Chadwick School grad Juliana Stone's inaugural column about life at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.

And some stragglers from the weekend:

It was a big weekend in Manhattan Beach, which hosted the Association of Volleyball Professionals' Manhattan Beach Open. Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers took home the trophy in the mens' division, and Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor took it for the ladies.

Check out photo galleries of the tournament here and here.

Torrance Unified is one of several local school districts floating bond measures in November. District officials are warning that if Torrance voters don't approve the two proposed measures, local schools could be shuttered and their land sold off.

Maybe Torrance can use that bond money to improve ventilation at Torrance High School, where a sophomore there suffered an allergic reaction after inhaling peanut fumes from a science experiment.

Your mouth will water when you check out the photographs of the weekend's Lobster Fest in San Pedro.

And, because it's Monday, ease into the work week by perusing our free games and puzzles while on the clock.
