Here's a look at what's going on out there today:

In case you were wondering, most of your local representatives approved the ill-fated bailout proposal yesterday.

The best defense ever: A man on trial for allegedly contacting a minor in hopes of sexual contact said he chatted up a cop posing online as a 13-year-old girl because he was trying to catch sexual predators. Oh, OK.

Hawthorne Police bust an 18-year-old for allegedly robbing and kissing at knifepoint women in Hawthorne and Lawndale. (Was he trying to catch molesting robbers, too?)

Right now, copper seems like a better investment than stock. Maybe that's why five El Segundo businesses saw thefts of copper water fixtures over the weekend.
