This is what it's like out there today, Sept. 12:

After deliberating for just more than two hours, a Torrance Superior Court jury Thursday recommended death death as Barry Mosley's punishment for raping and strangling two women and a teenage girl in their Athens area homes.

Over at the Crime and Courts blog, reporter Denise Nix gives some details about what it was like inside the packed court room yesterday before the jury announced its verdict. Also, check out a gallery of photographs from the court room.

Apparently there are a lot of rotten dogs in the South Bay because droves of pooch owners lined up Thursday at a San Pedro pet store to audition for a chance of intervention from the "Dog Whisperer," Cesar Millan.

Badly behaved or not, the pups sure are cute. See for yourself over at the photo gallery.

Bring on the beer steins, lederhosen and the Chicken Dance: Oktoberfest is back tonight at Alpine Village near Torrance, this time with a new look and new managers.

Wilmington's Banning High School unveiled Thursday its new synthetic turf football field, which will see action for the first time tonight when the Pilots take on Los Angeles High School. Check out the pristine field here, and read more about the first week of prep football this season in the South Bay.
