Here's a look at what's going on out there today, Sept. 15:


Plans are underway to recreate the bronze bust of pioneer surfer George Freeth stolen off the Redondo Beach pier last month. Version 2.0 will be created from the original mold and by the daughter of the late artist who crafted the first statue.


Awww. Dean and Dixie Blackwelder -- the cutest named couple ever -- celebrated their 60th anniversary Sunday at the same San Pedro church where they first met and got married, and the same church where Dean's parents met and celebrated their own diamond anniversary.

Its a good thing the state lawmakers are said to have reached a budget compromise because South Bay schools couldn't hold out much longer.
