Here's a look at what's going on out there today, Sept. 11:

South Bay aerospace giants Northrop Grumman and Boeing both have more time to compete for a $35 billion contract for the United States Air Force's aerial refueling tanker. The Pentagon announced Wednesday it would delay awarding a contract -- which could bring thousands of jobs to Southern California -- until the next administration steps in.

A 16-acre parking lot at Torrance's Del Amo Fashion Center is up for grabs as its owner, troubled investment bank Lehman Brothers announced Wednesday is was selling nearly all its commercial properties as it confronts an almost $4 million third-quarter loss.

Check out the events scheduled around the South Bay this week to commemorate today's anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

A little dog -- oddly known to suck on a pacifier -- is lost somewhere in the South Bay after flying out of a car window when its owner got into a traffic accident earlier this week in Harbor City.

Missing pup Pookie better steer clear of South Torrance, where recent coyote sightings and a subsequent cat death have prompted police to warn residents to keep kids and animals inside during early morning hours.

Today's prep football preview focuses on Byron Moore, a Narbonne High senior bound for University of Southern California who can play just about anywhere on the field.
