Here's a look at what's going on out there this morning, Sept. 10:

At least one local business is making the most of a stalling economy. South Bay Auto Auction sells about 400 repossessed cars a week, and just bought a 100,000-square-foot, $10 million warehouse in Gardena to accommodate its accelerating business.

Also, check out a slide show of photographs chronicling the craziness there on auction day.

See! Reading the Daily Breeze everyday really does increase intelligence! South Bay and Harbor area students kicked butt on last year's California High School Exit Exam: Results released Tuesday show more students here passed on their first shot than most of their counterparts in the rest of the state.

See how your kid's school did here.

South Bay clinics, nursing homes and board-and-care facilities that rely on state funding are rapidly draining savings as they wait out the budget impasse; Jim Dear supporters circle their wagons as a recall election looms in Carson; and Redondo Beach mainstay Chez Melange has a new location.

Our prep football preview focuses today on a Palos Verdes High School senior who could possibly play any position -- and is a nice enough guy that his coach would probably let him date his daughters if they were old enough.
