Rocket Launch May be Visible From South Bay Tonight

Picture 1.pngA Delta II rocket carrying the third of four planned COSMO Sky-Med earth satellites is scheduled to blast off at exactly 7:28 (and 21 seconds) tonight  from Vandenberg AFB near Lompoc.

The launch should be visible for about 200 miles and evening launches can be spectacular as the accompanying picture taken from the Hermosa Beach Pier in 2006 illustrates.

Look west.
