Rep. Jane Harman was on MSNBC today with Andrea Mitchell and was asked about a potential appointment to the Obama administration:HARMAN: I'm not going to speculate on that. And my only information about (Director of National Intelligence Mike) McConnell and (CIA Director Michael) Hayden came from reading today's newspapers, so I'm not going to speculate.
MITCHELL: But you're certainly not shutting down the door to being an intelligence official, if the new president would ask for your service, which would require, of course, leaving Congress?
HARMAN: I'm -- I'm not going to speculate. I've just been re-elected to my eighth term, and I enjoy my work in Congress.
Mitchell ended the interview on this note:I'm very enthusiastic about the new Obama administration and think that, again, he's proceeding carefully with a strong bipartisan transition team to cover the tough issues.
MITCHELL: All right. Jane Harman, thank you so very much for joining us. Good to see you again.
HARMAN: Thank you.
MITCHELL: And possibly the next time we chat, there could be another job in the future.Maybe. Maybe not. And don't expect any appointments until after Thanksgiving. Which gives us literally weeks to speculate on this.
