Update: The Caltrans permit finally came through and the move is tentatively set for 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24. The church will be moved in two pieces -- the roof on one truck, the rest of the building on a second truck -- on Grand Avenue, 19th Street and Western Avenue.

No surprise here.
After years spent encountering bureaucratic hurdles to move an abandoned historic church building out of San Pedro to Green Hills Cemetery, supporters appear to be up against yet a final roadblock: Getting the final Caltrans permit to transport the structure.
It was supposed to be done last Thursday night.
As of today, Monday (10/17), they're still waiting to get the permit to get the church to its new home in Green Hills Cemetery.
A frustrated John Resich, chairman of the Green Hills board of directors, says everyone's been contacted in terms of city, county and state officials to help get the final permit in place to move this thing along.
Resich, an optimist, is still hoping the permit will get kicked loose in a day or two.
Or three. Or four.
Stay tuned.
