The Banning football team is holding their end-of-the-season football banquet on Thursday , Jan. 29, and the Pilots will have a special guest speaker.
Jackie Salter, an All-Pro tackle for the Los Angeles Rams, will be the guest speaker at the Carson Community Civic Center with festivities starting at 5 p.m.
Vince Ferragamo will be the Master of Ceremonies, and tickets can be purchased at the door for $18.
Banning went 4-7 and finished fourth in the rugged Marine League this past season, losing in the first round of the L.A. City Section Championships to Crenshaw, 42-6. It also marked the end of running back Josh Limosnero's high school career. Limosnero was a four-year starter for Banning.

I was wondering what the "Chocolate Bus" was up to in retirement. Its great that these kids can listen to the Chocolate Bus speak and teach.
Wow.
Lets get a guess speaker so the sorry ass team can be happy about something. And tell them try harder next year althouh they F U C K E N SUCK.
F U C K W I L M A S.
Drocity is a low life gangbanger who just likes talking crap but cant back it up and if he does try and back it up he HAS to use a gun because he is to chicken S h i t to fight with fist. Its because he dont want to get his but kicked!!! Wilmas Rules!!!
Drocity is gay just like his lesbian mother.
Drocity made a good point outside of the cussing. Banning must rely on their past achievements because no longer are they any good. In fact outside of good teams like Narbonne and San Pedro, the Marine League stinks as Carson, Gardena, Banning and whatever other team is in the league can't do anything. No longer can the Marine League, especially Banning rely on illegal recruiting to make it over the top. Back in the day when they were the best in the country they had all of the Samoans and stuff coming over to play there when they should have been playing at another school legally speaking. But Banning won't win another league title for another 10 years I don't believe. Ha...ha....lol.....Banning sucks............I never thought that I would be able to say that....lol..............Banning sucks! They should be moved over to the Del Rey League because there is only one decent team in the Del Rey and they need more competition to balance the league out.
Young man, make sure you get your facts right, Banning didn't just have Somoans back in the day they had a melting pot of athletes and they weren't illegally recruited. Due to the shift in buses and demographic changes along with gang banging and shooting it has caused a shift in the population as far as athletes are concerned. I played at Banning in the championship years and know of the pure tradition of winning which will return Banning back to it's true form.
Anonymous, thank you for setting the facts straight and correcting me. I agree with what you write about the shift in buses and demographic changes along with gang banging and shooting...etc which have caused change and the difference maker of why the decline in Banning and Carson as being the model championship football programs any longer. I agree and I was wrong as well about my comment with regard to the "illegal recruiting". But I am correct about the main point which is Banning will never, ever see its heyday again. Never. They may win the league again from time to time but never will they be a dominant force and the best team in the country like they were so many times back in the day when you played. The area just doesn't get the coaches over in the Marine League anymore with the exception of Narbonne and Pedro, eventhough these two schools success can be more attributed to the athletes they had over there these past two years over and above their coaches being pedigree coaches, because they are average coaches, and no more will the Banning based running attack offenses with the full house, the power I and the wishbone and vere backs in the days which propelled players such as Michael Alo and Freeman McNeil be the bread and butter in high school football and these type of old offensive schemes were great in their day but have been replaced by technically based pass oriented schemes and 50/50% Pass/run offenses which required good QB's and the Marine League and intercity leagues cannot seem to attract these good D-1 prototype of QB's because most of these type of QB's stay in the CIF programs. The CIF and non-city leagues are the force now and its the CIF who gets all of the great well disciplined QB's. If you were to take a Banning or a Carson team and stick them in, let's say, the Bay, Ocean and even the Pioneer League, year after year, you would see both Carson and Banning as 500% teams at best. I admire the history and old prestige of Banning football and its fun to talk about the good old days when they could not be touched or beaten, but things have changed and high school football has changed in a big, big way in the past 20 years so my point of Banning being the football of the future just isn't accurate or fair to say.
As much as it KILLS me to say this, bannings no more is right. The truth of the matter is that our kids now a days are smaller, less talented, and hard to keep. Some may say the biggest difference between banning of the 70's and 80's to todays banning is race. Back in the day, as was mentioned, there were alot of samoans, blacks and whites on the teams. Now, the majority are hispanic who, let's face it, are fast as hell, but not exactly big. Others might say the problem is recruiting. Apparently Banning was able to do recruiting back in the old day. Obviously we can't do that anymore. You're stuck with what you have at school. Which leaves everything to the "name" of the school. I now live on the east coast. People over here know who L.B. Poly, Dorsey, Mater Dei, and other schools are, do they know of Banning? NOPE. Which means alot of parents will be willing to move to near one of those schools just so they can be at a "top" notched program.
It sucks seeing my pilots having a hard time, and I do belive Coach Ferragamo is doing all he can with what he has, he just doesn't have enough.....
Pilotfan1 - it must hurt to think about this if you are a Banning alumni because of the rich history of fantastic high school ball coming out of Banning all of those great years. I feel for you man. I didn't play for Banning but even a non-Banning alumni can appreciate all of the great ball and history of the Banning era. I believe Banning had the greatest long term run above and beyond any and all high school programs and I don't believe any other high school will ever emulate nor match the greatness of those Banning teams.
Jamison- Although we might have lost alot of games that does not mean we are through with fighting for a championship. We are very dedicated for this season(2009). We have alot of talent and we have alot of PRIDE!!!!!!! So if you still want to run your mouth, then get your sorry team over here because we ain't done.
i dont give a crap what all of u guys have to say about banning... to me banning is the hart and the soul of wilmington... everyone can say banning sucks... but they dont know what the fuck they r talking about... i played at banning and to all my old team mates... yall know once a pilot always a pilot... we got that pilot pride... we can be a smaller team and not be as talented as the victory days... but we can still be the best we just got to push ourselfs to our limit we need to play smart.... we got this....
