Two of the South Bay's top college football recruits continue to rack up the awards.

Reigning Daily Breeze Player of the Year Robert Woods of Serra and Narbonne defensive back Sean Parker have both been named to the Maxpreps Preseason All-State team.

Woods, who recently gave a non-binding verbal commitment to USC, had 1,378 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns with 81 catches last season for Serra, the CIF Southern Section Northwest Division finalist.

Parker, who has received at least 28 scholarship offers, had five interceptions last season to lead Narbonne to the Marine League title and to the L.A. City Section co-title with San Pedro. He can basically write his ticket to college and will be a leader for Narbonne.

Parker who??????????????? I watched him play and he is over rated just like the their DB last year who is now at USC sitting at 4th string and will remain at 4th string his entire college career. Another bust in the making? Woods is the real deal though.

I'm a DUMB ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tony Ciniglio is an 11-year veteran at the Daily Breeze and is the Prep-JC Editor. Ciniglio graduated from Malibu High (home of the mighty Sharks) in 1997 as part of the school's second graduating class before attending powerhouse Pepperdine (Class of 2001), thus shattering any reader's preconceived notion that he has any personal bias when it comes to South Bay Preps.

Dave Thorpe

Dave Thorpe was a self-proclaimed, slightly above average baseball player back in the day at Torrance's West High, who went on and had an unspectacular, injury-riddled stint as a third baseman at El Camino College. Trading bat for pen, Thorpe wrote sports for the Long Beach Union newspaper at Long Beach State University, then worked as the sports editor for the Palos Verdes Peninsula News for seven years before climbing down the Hill to the Daily Breeze, where he has been a sports writer covering local sports for more than two years.
