Inglewood's standout wide receiver/safety James Grace, whose hardship petition for a ninth semester of high school was previously denied by the CIF Southern Section, won his appeal and has been declared eligible for the rest of the semester. Inglewood has four games left in the regular season but still has a shot to make the CIF playoffs.
"We're glad to have him back," Inglewood coach Charles Mincy said. "He'll hit the ground rolling and help us out a lot. "
Inglewood (3-3, 0-1) is on a three-game losing streak, so it welcomes Grace back with open arms as it enters the heart of the Ocean League season. After playing at Hawthorne this Friday, Inglewood has key league showdowns at Beverly Hills and at home against Santa Monica.
""We'll have to pull out some big wins and get feeling good about ourselves again," Mincy said.

Congrats on getting an athlete back Coach Mincy!! You guys have had some unfortunate circumstances and glad to see things go in your favor ...

I read a compelling story about James in the Daily Breeze last month and I'm glad that the CIF-SS finally came to their senses and granted him eligibility to play.

Will be rooting for James and the Sentinels to go all the way!!!

Tony Ciniglio

Tony Ciniglio is an 11-year veteran at the Daily Breeze and is the Prep-JC Editor. Ciniglio graduated from Malibu High (home of the mighty Sharks) in 1997 as part of the school's second graduating class before attending powerhouse Pepperdine (Class of 2001), thus shattering any reader's preconceived notion that he has any personal bias when it comes to South Bay Preps.

Dave Thorpe

Dave Thorpe was a self-proclaimed, slightly above average baseball player back in the day at Torrance's West High, who went on and had an unspectacular, injury-riddled stint as a third baseman at El Camino College. Trading bat for pen, Thorpe wrote sports for the Long Beach Union newspaper at Long Beach State University, then worked as the sports editor for the Palos Verdes Peninsula News for seven years before climbing down the Hill to the Daily Breeze, where he has been a sports writer covering local sports for more than two years.
