Tonight is the night that everyone in San Pedro and Carson has been waiting for since.. well, October 28, when San Pedro beat Carson 21-0. It's a huge Marine League rematch in the L.A. City Section Division I semifinal. The winner goes to the City final at East L.A.'s Weingart Stadium and the loser wonders what could have been.

San Pedro is 12-0 and firing on all cylinders, but will a healthy Roger Jones improve Carson's chances? Don't expect another zero on the scoreboard tonight. This one will be close, whichever way it goes.

Narbonne will try to make it an All-Marine League final when it takes on Dorsey tonight. The Dorsey Dons bring the kind of athletes to the field that the Gauchos likely haven't seen since their Sept. 16 loss to Long Beach Poly. Expect some offensive fireworks in this one.

In the Southern Section, Torrance in a semifinal for the first time since anyone can remember, riding the legs of Tyrone Taylor and Quoc Ho in the Rocket Deleware Wing offense. The long trip to Lompoc won't be easy, but the Tartars have been able to overcome the odds time and time again this season.

Culver City takes on reigning Ocean League champ Santa Monica in another league rematch. Santa Monica beat Culver City by three points earlier this year, but the Centaurs are riding high after stunning Serra in the first round. Kevin Porche and Lukas O'Connor are playing great at QB for Culver City right now.

Tony Ciniglio

Tony Ciniglio has been covering sports at the Daily Breeze since 1997 and is the Prep-JC Editor. Ciniglio graduated from Malibu High (home of the mighty Sharks) in 1997 as part of the school's second graduating class before attending powerhouse Pepperdine (Class of 2001), thus shattering any reader's preconceived notion that he has any personal bias when it comes to South Bay Preps.

Dave Thorpe

Dave Thorpe was a self-proclaimed, slightly above average baseball player back in the day at Torrance's West High, who went on and had an unspectacular, injury-riddled stint as a third baseman at El Camino College. Trading bat for pen, Thorpe wrote sports for the Long Beach Union newspaper at Long Beach State University, then worked as the sports editor for the Palos Verdes Peninsula News for seven years before climbing down the Hill to the Daily Breeze, where he has been a sports writer covering local sports since 2007.
