San Luis Obispo ready to kick off California Wine Month

California
Wine Month
kicks off  the harvest wine season. San Luis Obispo will offer wine connoisseurs many tasting events, winemaker dinners,
or harvest celebrations in September and throughout the fall.

Visitors can begin planning their tasting itineraries at SanLuisObispoVacations.com
where they’ll find wine event
listings, a printable
wine country map,
and details on 37 hotels
that provide centrally located jumping off points to the county’s
prestigious wine country.

Downtown hotels–which include B&Bs, larger chain hotels and economy
lodges–lie just minutes away from Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande
appellation wineries (such as recent San
Francisco Chronicle
standouts Baileyana and Chamisal) while several
hotels offer tasting and touring packages to the entire area wine country.

For
example, Sands Inn & Suites offers a Vineyard
Limo Tour Package
, Courtyard Marriott offers a Wine
Tasting with Wine Line Tours Package
,
and the Embassy Suites
offers a Wine
Wrangler Tour Package.

The
downtown hotels also provide proximity to major wine country events like the
Taste of San Luis (September 15, 2010), and
Sunset’s “Savor the Central Coast” featuring the Sunset’s Western Wine Awards (September 30- October 4, 2010).

September “California Wine Month” kicks
off harvest wine season stretches into November and features numerous
individual winery events such as barrel tasting, winemaker dinners, blending
seminars, and grape stomping, as well as county and appellation-wide
celebrations. A selection is highlighted below; find a more comprehensive
listing of wine country events at www.SanLuisObispoVacations.com/Events.
