Eleven things this writer wants to see in 2011
Hello, 2011. Here are 11 things I would like to see happen. File this under NEEEERRRRD!, since it's my job to be a nerd on Tech Out.
1. I would like to see BioWare's "Star Wars: The Old Republic" come out with specs that my computer can handle, and succeed in its developers' declared intention to combine storytelling with MMO gameplay.

5. I'm holding out hope that Christopher Nolan and company change the
title for 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises." You already made "The Dark
Knight" guys, can I interest you in "The Caped Crusader?"
6. I would really like to see "Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" reinvigorate the series. I don't have a Nintendo DS, so I cannot comment on "The Phantom Hourglass" or "Spirit Tracks," but I considered "Twilight Princess" (2006) to be an entertaining, visually arresting but ultimately disappointing game that was in many ways a retread of the brilliant "Ocarina of Time" instead of a title that took the series in new directions.
7. I'd like this summer's "X-Men: First Class" to be the first good X-Men movie. You read that right.
8. Echoing my previous point on Star Wars, I'd like to see a few less superhero movies in the coming years. The trailer for "Green Lantern" made the flick look like a virtual remake of "Iron Man and I'll be surprised if "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" will avoid unintentional comedy. In the case of the latter, I don't know if audiences will buy a guy with a shield as America's secret weapon against the Nazis, especially since just about anyone interested in World War 2 movies has seen the realism depicted in "Band of Brothers."
9. I'm probably the only tech blog writer who does not have a smartphone. I'd like my old Nokia whatever flip phone lasts another year so I can continue to save money on phone service.
10. I need to find time to watch "True Grit." I'm disappointed in myself for not seeing it yet.
11. Although it may hurt sales for THQ's "Homefront" game, I would like to see 2011 bear out my admittedly out-there hunch that the North Korean regime will come to an end without a war, as did the Warsaw Pact governments in 1989.
