UCR holds panel discussion on current financial crisis and prospects for recovery
UC Riverside scholars will address the causes of the current financial crisis and prospects for recovery in a panel discussion from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in University Theatre.

Panelists will include:
Marcelle Chauvet, associate professor of economics, who has developed a real-time recession prediction model and is consulted frequently by the U.S. government, foreign governments and the international business community.
Anil Deolalikar, professor of economics and associate dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, who focuses on issues of international development and global poverty. He previously worked for the World Bank in their Kenya and India offices.
Sattar Mansi, associate professor of finance and management science, who has worked with Freddie Mac in the areas of risk management and securitization.
Richard Smith, Philip L. Boyd Chair and professor of finance, whose recent research has focused on initial public offerings and venture capital.
David Stewart, dean of the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, a nationally known expert in marketing who has served as an expert witness before the Federal Trade Commission and in state and federal courts in cases involving deceptive advertising claims and unfair business practices, trademarks and intellectual property, and antitrust actions.
Richard Sutch, distinguished professor of economics, who co-edited the award-winning "Historical Statistics of the United States: Earlier Times to the Present, Millennial Edition," published in 2007.
