High Desert event to feature keynote speech by Ben Stein

The High Desert Opportunity committee announced that actor, author, economist and humorist Ben Stein will be keynote speaker for the 2009 business conference.  The 27th annual event will be held Oct. 15 at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville.  According to a news release, the goal of the event is to "support economic growth and stability by attracting businesses and jobs to the High Desert."  Information: (760) 245-7600; www.highdesertopportunity.com
