Goodwill SoCal recognized for disability-friendly workplace

Goodwill Southern California was recognized Oct. 29 as the 2009 Disability Friendly Employer of the Year by the American Health Congress in partnership with the Jobing Foundation.  According to a news release, the award "recognizes employers who make tangible efforts to enable persons with disabilities achieve their true potential.  Employers must demonstrate best practices in making reasonable adjustments to enable persons with disabilities to gain employment and benefit from opportunities to increase their skills and widen their experience."  Lowell King, the Inland Counties regional operations officer for Goodwill Southern California, accepted the award.  Information: (888) 446-6394; www.goodwillsocal.org
