I.E. manufacturing grows slowly

| | Comments (0) |
The Inland Empire's manufacturing sector grew in November at an anemic pace, yet escaped the contraction that's haunted it for most of 2008 and 2009, according to a report released Tuesday by Cal State San Bernardino's Institute of Applied Research and Analysis.  November's index reading -- which tracks local commodity prices, production, new orders, inventory, employment and supplier deliveries at manufacturing and supply companies in San Bernardino and Riverside counties -- was 50.3.  A number below 50 means the sector is shrinking.  The report says that a new trend in growth can't be established yet because even though the local index has risen from its record lows in February, it has struggled to stay above the 50 mark between May and November for three consecutive months.
