Listeria monocytogenes is the same species of bacteria responsible for a deadly outbreak of listeriosis traced to cantaloupes farmed in Colorado.
Symptoms of listeriosis can include high fever, severe headache, nausea and abdominal pain. The illness can be fatal to young children, frail individuals or the elderly. The disease can also cause miscarriages or stillbirths.
Anyone in possession of the recalled spinach is advised to immediately throw it away.

The agreement will allow ESRI's ArcGIS geographic information software to be integrated with IBM's Netezza data storage products. Integrating the products will allow the companies' customers to geospatially analyze large amounts of data at high rates of speed, ESRI reported.
