Recall: November 2011 Archives
Foremost Foods, International announced a voluntary recall of Pangasinan brand smoked seafood products because of potential botulism contamination.
All the products are expected to be off shelves by Monday, Foremost Foods compliance coordinator Joselito Reyes said.
No illnesses have been reported.
The recall applies to 6 ounce packages of Roundscad Smoked Galunggong and 6 ounce packages of Mackerel Smoked Hasa Hasa. Consumwers are advised not to use the products even if they do not look or smell bad.
The products were distributed in California, Nevada and Washington through Seafood City and Manila Seafood stores.
Botulism is a potentially deadly disease. Symptoms include general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Other symptoms are difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms.
People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.
