Charlie's Italian Cafe in La Verne is scheduled to be featured on the Fox Network television program "Kitchen Nightmares" at 8 p.m. on Feb. 17, the restaurant announced.

A television crew with irascible English chef Gordon Ramsay visited the restaurant in October. The show's interaction with Charlie's Italian Cafe resulted in the eatery adopting a new menu and remodeling its dining area.

BNI, a global networking organization focused on business referrals among members, is planning a Visitor's Day for its Business Builders Chapter on May 10 in Rancho Cucamonga.

The organization generated more than 6.2 million referrals for its members in 2010, leading to about $2.6 billion of business, according to the group.

California Scooter Company, based in La Verne, announced the design of a police version to its popular small motorcycle. Take a look at the cop scooter here. The CSC-150P is designed to help law enforcement navigate through highly congested urban settings, the company said.

The black-and-white small motorcycle, which can be customized to department colors, includes a calibrated speedometer, windshield, storage rack, saddlebags, siren, engine guards and police lighting. It has lower maintenance costs than a standard police motorcycle and, in addition to electric starting, retains a traditional kick starter.

The second BritWeek and U.K. Trade & Investment Business Innovation Awards is accepting contest entries until March 31. Businesses with operations in both California and the United Kingdom are eligible.

A panel, including Maggie Shiels of the BBC and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Richard Irving, will determine the winners.

The awards will be presented at the BritWeek Gala Dinner in San Francisco on May 12. BritWeek, a brainchild of producer Nigel Lythgoe, is a nonprofit group that aims to highlight the connection between Britain and California.
