Financial adviser Mark P. Tolan of La Verne received high marks from his clients in a recent Ameriprise financial adviser client satisfaction survey. Tolan ranked in the top 25 percent of the 2,417 participating advisers who scored 96 percent or higher “based on overall client satisfaction and the frequency of proactive contact the client received,” according to a news release. For six years, the National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in San Bernardino has helped children with from kidney disease at Loma Linda University Medical Center, donating gift cards and buying items to help entertain them while they receive dialysis, according to a news release. This year, the two groups bought the hospital’s Pediatric Hemodialysis Unit four DVD players, two Nintendo Wii systems, 17 movies and eight games for the game cube system. Children also received Target gift cards. Southern Sierras Chapter NECA along with IBEW Local 440 Riverside County and IBEW Local 477 San Bernardino each donated $1,000.
The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. recently announced that its president and chief executive, William C. Allen, has been selected one of Los Angeles County’s “most innovative and influential nonprofit leaders.” Allen was selected for his leadership in “developing Los Angeles County’s first-ever consensus plan for economic development,” according to a news release. The Internal Revenue Service has released a statement reminding taxpayers that they have just a few days left to make their final financial moves for 2009. Key points to consider include charitable contributions, retirement account deposits and portfolio adjustments. Taxpayers are encouraged to maintain accurate record keeping, including saving applicable receipts. There are new laws in place for the year as well under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. West Coast University President and CEO Barry T. Ryan recently announced that Ravi Tripuraneni will serve as program chairman for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Health Care Administration.
