Authorities to step up enforcement of street racers

dragracing.jpeg Mulholland Highway and other canyon roads have long attracted drag racers who terrorize residents with their dangerous and illegal games, but now authorities are stepping up enforcement of these thrill seekers to make the streets safe again.

Through a program unveiled Monday called Operation Safe Canyons, California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies on overtime are teaming up in cars and helicopters to nab drivers who use the Santa Monica Mountains like a race track.
