I've pumped up Poly all year long, but this week I'm going with the underdog. Poly has looked human the past two weeks, winning close games against Bishop Amat and Esperanza. Last Friday, Lakewood dominated a very good Mission Viejo squad. Lakewood is hot right now and Poly seems to be limping a bit now. Defenses will dominate this game. Final: Lakewood 13, Poly 10.

LETS go POLY.....LBP fight fight fight
As a '64 graduate of Lakewood all I can say is....Beat Poly!!!!!!!!!! Get-R-Done.
Poly Baby~ Our boy's will dominate~ They always do~
Poly Baby~ Our boy's will dominate~ They always do~
Hop aside jackrabbits its our YeAr!!!!!
Let's Go Lakewood!!!
I have to agree with you in some regard, Lakewood is hot and their confidence has to be sky high after beating two quality opponents. They are well coached and have come very close to beating Poly over the last five years. They are a very capable team that Poly has a lot of respect for. However, your comment regarding Poly, "limping," does not adequately take into account the level of the competition they have faced not only the last two weeks, but over the entire year. They started the year by traveling to Florida and beating last year's high school national leader in the polls. During the year they met and held off one of last year's California state champions. Over the last two weeks they have beaten two very tough opponents in what many believe is the strongest grouping of high school teams in the nation--the Pac 5. Bishop Amat may have made it in by a coin toss, but they are one of the very finest teams I've ever seen Poly play. They came in having fumbled to their opponents only once in ten games, having a pass interception percentage lower than 3%, 1000+ yards for the season both running and passing, and with a game plan that took away much of Poly's strong running attack for an extended portion of the game. They played an almost flawless game and when it was over no-one in the Poly stands who watched it would have felt cheated had they won--but they didn't. Poly still found a way to win that game as they have every game since early last year. Turnovers will be important in this game, as in any high school or college game, as they create momentum. You can't give the ball up multiple times and expect to win. You mentioned defense being the key. I agree, and I can tell you that this is the best "team" defense I have seen at Poly. Yes, you can look back to past years and list the names of individual standouts, but if defense determines who will win this game, I wouldn't want to bet against Poly. Poly hasn't been limping, they've been playing outstanding football and making big time plays against great opponents.
It's going to be a close game but Poly will stick it out and come through with the "W" once again! C/O 1975 GO POLY!!! HOME OF THE SCHOLARS AND CHAMPS!
Its Poly Time! Encore Back to Back PAC 5 CIF Champions this year - 2008. All I have to say to Lakewood, "Two More Games" and Poly will become Two Time Consecutive "Back to Back Champs."
Special words of expression: POLY IN THE HOUSE!..
Go Wood!!!!
We can do it
Poly has nothing to prove. However, Lakewood does. Poly has won numerous CIF titles, have played in uncountable CIF Semi-final games and has been known as the Home of The Chapions and Scholars. Everyone knows the history. For Poly it will be just another victory. For Lakewood it will be history! Something they have never done (MAYBE ONCE) and I'm not sure of that! Even if Poly lose it will be just another football game lost. If Lakewood lose it will be (TO THEM Devastating, Disappointment, Woulda, coulda, shoulda)! So once again POLY TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so hard to be a RABBIT
Remember, Poly is the 2007.......... CIF defending champions. Lakewood, parents, students, coaches, assistant coaches, staff-teachers, players, press-telegram writers and bloggers please give Poly their props. You all know the history and what Poly has done. Please quit fooling yourself and psyching yourself and others up. Like Katt williams said "We love hatters". Once again GO POLY!
