Call this the "Nightmare on Briercrest Street" if you bleed blue and gold, or "Business as Usual" if red and white fits your fancy. Here is my take on this game.
Offense: A-
Hark the Lancer angels sing! Crispness return'd to Number 15! After making a mess last week against Jordan, his players are back to normal. Complete domination. A few hiccups here and there, but this is how they will match up when they take on the Sherman Oaks Notre Dames and Edisons and Mission Viejoes of the world. This is how you do it.
Defense: A
Never missed a beat from last week. Darby knew at the back of his mind he was facing a red storm with black trim, and it at him up. Pass defense was on the money, and the run defense led by Utupo and Barr made it business as usual.
Special Teams: B+
I could have made it a B average, but it just dawned on the coaching staff. Why not let the toe punter do his thing on the extra points. I like to think of Kelly Harpham as Alex Boy with extra girth and buffet-busting technology built it. Not that it should be confirmed that he eats up a storm (of healthy food, that is) during the lunch hour after all, but it's a compliment to getting most of the conversions, save two. For a lineman, I'll give him this, he does have an arm, but he'll have to work on it.
As for the rest, the punt return defense had one glaring dent-giving up the only point for Millikan on a TD return-but otherwise, they made the stops. And Ron Lewis and the punting unit got the job done in pinning the defense deep. Vast improvement from last week. Stick with it when you head to 7th and Ximeno in a fortnight, S-Teamers.
That is why I went straight to LBCC from 10th grade
