Wow Norwalk plays a bunch of teams with nothing but losses and had trouble with a team that got blown out by Mayfair, and you are going to put them at 3? Good thing this is not " THE TIP HOT LINE FOR ODDS YOU WOULD BE FIRED!" I would really trust this to be a good judge of teams in our area, not a popularity contest. Records reflect nothing if u have not beat anyone! IS SOME ONE NOT PAYING THIS PAPER TO STUDY UP AND DO THE RANKINGS? I guess this is not the BCS so time will tell *Friday nite*

Fire Lara!! The team does good, but when it comes to big teams he always loses. It's time for him to resign and get a new coach. Bring Jaso back.

shadowman,
polls are like the changing colors of the leaves in the fall, they fall off in the winter like most of these teams will in the playoffs.

Lara's cool. Keep him. Poly has a young team and they will dominate once again but this is not their year. How do you want to get rid of a coach that keeps taking his teams to the CIF championship, and win. What more do you want?

Its unfair to say norwalk barely beat a team mayfair blew out, cuz mayfair beat bellflower 27 to 17 and norwalk beat them 58 to 6, it only proves that rivalry games anything can happen look how a diminished poly team played against a great lakewood team, or how last years warren bears lost to downey?? year in and year out rivalry games are unpredictable, if you don't understand that then you have no business placing comments nwk fan..

poly should be out of the p-t area's top 10, because if it was any other high school with the record poly have; they would be out of the p-t area's top 10. and that not fair; please be fair with your p-t area's top 10 football ranking.

Norwalk has not lost any games....they play La Mirada his week. If they win then their is nothing to say...if they lose, all that is said could be true...Friday will tell all.

The Expert is bored with these rankings. Let the playoffs begin please. Lakewood is by far the best team top to bottom on this list and in this area. From what I have seen they just might be more than that. Poly on the other hand is obviously struggling but WILL make the playoffs and without all the turnovers and penalties would beat 9 teams on that list and possibly win a playoff game. Player for player, Poly still has some of the most individual talent anywhere. Another interesting story is Bosco. With the way the Trinity league is going, I could see a scenerio where Bosco sneaks into the playoffs in a year when no one expects it. OLU and Mater Dei have been very up and down this season and one could easily slip up in an uninspired effort. Congrats to LaMirada for breaking Mayfair's streak and kudos to Norwalk for staying unbeaten. Lastly, if you have an opportunity to see Warren's RB Callier run the ball this year, you should definitely check him out. It's just too bad he's not playing on a bigger stage against better competition. I guess we'll have to wait until he gets to college. The Expert Has Spoken.

I was talking to a Lakewood fan and he told me that Poly's sophmore football team is bad and that class will not be good when they are seniors. I told him and I am telling all that Poly who are hatin' on Poly, Poly has several sophmores that are starting this year on the varsity team, I think the class of 2012 will be just fine.

Shadow, my man:

I am going to be surprised if Wilson wins this week...and you STILL put Poly in the P-T Top 10.

A look at the future:
If there were freshman rankings, Poly's freshman team would likely be number one. With a 7-0 record and impressive wins over St. Bonaventure and Servite, the future looks VERY bright for Poly. Great running backs, could use some improvement in the defensive secondary.
In second would be St. John Bosco, with perhaps their best freshman team in 20 years. Also 7-0 with big wins over St. Bonaventure and Servite, a win this week over Orange Lutheran (reputed to be the best freshman team in California)might place them in a tie with Poly. Huge offensive and defensive lines, good backs, but needs improvement at quarterback and in the secondary.
Third would be Millikan, with a 5-2 record, with losses to Poly and a good team from Fountain Valley. A good team that had a bad game against Poly.

The 2012 season will be great for Poly, but with a few other local teams contending as well.

It is true that we have a whole lotta young talent but they are freshmen. But our JV team lost to an undefeated Lakewood JV this year also...It might be a couple years before we are really good again. Lakewood might have our number for atleast another year. I don't remember the last time we lost both a JV and Varsity game to the same Moore League team in the same year.

SHADOW- Just for kicks lets see the shadows playoff of the pt top 10 and see who comes out on top, you would have to add 2 wildcard teams to make it even, just to stir up the pot with all these bloggers here.

ADDR: LEONIDAS ! I would guess you dnt get my point, I will further explain myself. ok rankings are made up of a things such as strength of schedule, statistics, and of course maybe I would say 10% record being a factor (if you don't see that don't comment in the 10 section)! take these into consideration and I think you will understand. there are many teams in this top 10 that have had very tough pre-season and regular season games thus far! as for Norwalk NONE THUS FAR. Not trying to be a hater just KEEP'N IT REAL! Norwalk high schools first challenge after 7 weeks into the season will be La mirada (will the 7-0 win streak end)? I hate to burst your bubble but this aint no Jr. Midget pop warner team, with one loss on there record you will see Friday nite "THERE THE REAL DEAL"! Mabey all the high schools in the area should make a season schedule like Norwalks, playing these lil pop warner teams go undefeated and then go over these rankings! or how about this we do these rankings off of rivalry games! LEONIDAS GET BACK TO ME FRIDAY AFTER THE GAME OR STICK TO SOCCER, AMERICAN FOOTBALL IS TO MUCH FOR YOU!

Norwalk? What a charade!

I was at the Poly/Millikan freshman game last week watching a friend play and they brought Sophomores and Juniors to the game. You can't gauge the Freshman results when teams are cheating.

If you look at, and go by the win and lost records Poly deserves to be at the bottom or off the areas top ten. No excuses here we are losing alot of games this year. That being said , Poly still has tons of talent. The biggest mistake for any team to do when playing LB Poly is to have a false sense of security, because of their record.

One more point I wold like to adress to you Leonidas, most of these teams in this top 10 take there 1st team out after a greter amount of points have been scored (as in Mayfairs rivalry homecoming game against bellflower) to insure the whole team has played, such as Mayfair did in there homecoming! in reference to john glenn vs. norwalk they battled to the end with there first string in,( I know I was there), as they do every game, (LEAVE THE FIRST STRING IN AND RUN THE SCORE UP!) If you think about running the score up in these games makes you shine, but in actuality it really makes your team have no class, BUT IN TURN INSURES YOU A BETTER SPOT IN THE TOP 10 I GUESS! These are only rankings, were does this put Norwalk after they loose friday nite? My guess would be this, when Norwalk looses Friday nite and they are dropped from the top 10 you will cry cause Norwalk has only had one loss! to rap this up, if you want to have a valid point on rankings beat HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS , beating 8 man or pop warner teams will give you good grounds for an argument!

none of these teams will make noise in the post season..so who cares..

Wow PolyAlumni - you want to fire Lara because he never wins the big games? Where have you been the past two years? Seems to me that Poly (the back-to-back CIF champion) has won some pretty big games recently.

ADDR: NWK Fan
you make a good point for someone who doesn't know how to spell, but again you are false to assume that norwalk would leave there first string in after blowing teams out..what coach would?? obviously you came from a crappy program, probably john glenn but there is nothing wrong with that, friday we will see..and La Mirada has another thing coming..

Walking E, they have won CIF's but look at the past 8 years or so.. With losses to De La Salle, Mission Viejo, that Washington team, Oceanside, St. Bonaventure, etc.. Those teams are always in the rivals top 100. The teams they play in Moore League gives them the opportunity to make it to the playoffs and win CIF. I don't think I can win one big name team that they beat besides.. Hawaii and to me, that's not even a big name team.

Some big name teams Poly beat: Northwestern Miami FL.(they were state champs several years in a row) / St. Bonaventura ( the CIF & State Champs the last 4 of 5 years! / Esperanza / Bishop Amat / Glenville of Cleveland OH. / Crespi / Orange Lutheran / Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks /Mater Dei / Pittsburg a power up Northern Calif. / Also Poly has played Newport Harbor & Corona Centennial several times each and has NEVER lost to them! This is just a few teams Poly has beat the last 4 years.

Umm hey mr Norwalk fan.. it looks like you should change your name to mr la mirada... I see you are upset Norwalk beat la mirada and put videos of them dancing on your field on youtube!

Dont worry.. La mirada will lose this weekend.. and not by a little.. All La Mirada will do is pass the ball.. they wont be able to run the ball against norwalk.. they have a solid defense up front and LB. How many INT's will norwalk have this week... Hmmmmm

Norwalk 42- La mirada 14.

I've seen the SJB Freshman team a few times this season and they are VERY good. When those boys are juniors & seniors, SJB should be a major threat in the Trinity League.

Hey John, don't forget De La Salle they Beat DLS ... oh wait... NEVER.

Bosco freshmen do not have the talent they need to win the Trinity League in three years. They are not a better team than Orange Lutheran, and they will not be the league's best until they:
1. Solve the quarterback problem. Their best passers are on the bench...but their best leaders are on the field. You have to pass successfully to flourish in the Trinity League...a future dilemma for coach Kiki Mendoza.
2. Find a few new kids who can move successfully into the defensive secondary. Maybe a few current quarterbacks, running backs or receivers? Maybe some kids in next year's freshman class?
3. Get some physical growth out of their highly skilled running backs. There is no guarantee that a 5'5" great freshman will turn into a bigger, stronger senior. Only time will tell. (And at 14 years of age, you never can predict about how these kids will grow and develop...there are sure to be some pleasant surprises for every team.)
5. And as far as CIF is concerned, Poly freshman have better skills at every position except the interior offensive and devensive lines. Bosco will likely be very good in three more years, but there is nothing to suggest that they will exceed Orange Lutheran or Poly. Of course, next years freshman team could greatly affect everything by the time they are juniors...which is true at every school. And Orange Lutheran?...bigger, stronger and more adept at their skilled positions. Their future appears to be fabulous.

To Love lock Lancer..Your math must be poor ... Poly has not played De La Salle in over 5 years but Corona Centennial has and beat De La Salle and Poly has beat Corona Centennial several times by a lot & never has lost to them!

All La mirada does is pass the ball! .... News flash they had 270 yrds against Mayfair who kept Los Al to 150! Ya we Pass and Run and then Run Run Run and then Pass! Good luck your gonna need it tomorrow night!

Speaking of freshman teams, Dominguez High School has a pretty good freshman team. They are 5-2, losing to Bishop Amat, and S.O. Notre Dame. They have smashed every team in the area they have played by an average margin of victory of 35 points. the two games they lost were early in the season. I think they can beat any freshman to right now. If this team stays together, watch out Dominguez high will be real tough to beat at the varsity level over the next 2 to 3 years.
