Poly-Lakewood predictions...

OK, let the fun begin... Now Poly and Lakewood don't have other games to focus on before meeting each other. So let's get out the calculators and add it up... final score? Let me be the first....
Lakewood 34, Poly 14...
Now Poly people, don't hate on me... I don't have a favorite... just making my best guess based on what's gone on so far this season. Best thing that could have happened to Lakewood, possibly, was losing that season-opener to Crenshaw. Poly had a good game against Jordan, finally playing a team that wasn't ranked among the best in the state. Let's get those predictions coming...

The "best in the state" didn't score 34 on Poly and I don't think Lakewood can either.

Lakewood 21 Poly 20

Personally, I think that next friday's game will be really tight. With Poly finally having a QB that could actually help his team score some points now, I see the score being 28 to 27 that can go either Poly or Lakewood.

Nah. I disagree with The EyeShadow. Our Lancers are hungry, yet still will settle for leftover scraps. The Jackrabbits OWN Long Beach, hence the school carrying the city's name sake. Long Beach High will emerge victorious again, and a dark cloud will continue to darken the remaining high school football programs for decades to come... Go Lakewood!

21-7 Lakewood. A defensive contest, but this should be where it ends. Leachman will be facing a defense that may remind them of O-Side. He will be on his toes.

Veterans Memorial Stadium stands at Armageddon. Stay tuned for all the action here on PressTelegram.com.

its go be a close game but poly still go win!!! and i went to millkian

Common Lakewood! Do it for your country! There are people in the Air Force who have not been in L.B in 11 years! Do it for me.. I mean them. Beat Poly!!!!! Final Score
Lakewood 14-Poly 7

POLY HAD THEIR TIME TO SHINE, NOW ITS TIME FOR THE LANCERS TO TAKE OVER. COACH MAC HAS DONE A GREAT JOB KEEPING THAT SCHOOL IN TIP TOP SHAPE AND NOW POLY WILL GO HOME CRYING TO THEIR MOMMAS

LETS GO LANCERS 28-21 LAKEWOOD

Besides Crenshaw, nobody has really put up big points against Lakewood either. I am with the Shadow on this one but I say Lakewood wins 34-7.

I am not looking for a lop-sided game that is as long as Coach Lara can keep his offense moving!! The coach learned a lesson and that is play your kids on the bench. I posted earlier that it took a kid to transfer out to let this happen. Your older players are the way to go. There might be a few underclassmen that can play but do not field your team with them. You have got seniors and juniors that can play this game and at a level we would all love to experience watching. I have watched the Long Beach Browns play ball and one of the best teams they ever fielded are our juniors. Our family use to stay after our game just to watch the seniors that now are still sitting the bench and they have speed! There is another thing about those juniors and seniors they are great kids. What do I mean? TEAM, they have team attitude, they feed off each other and excel. The defensive coach for Poly needs to know his juniors and seniors will be their strength and asset for this upcoming game.
SO put them in coach there ready to play and my vote will be for LONG BEACH POLY !! A close one but this Grandma is coming in Green with a win attitude.

Lakewood 3, Poly 2

In reality, I'd say Lakewood 19, Poly 14...

lakewood has that panic factor they just
always seem to panic when they play Long beach Poly ....choke

I must admit for the first time in 30 years I am nervous about us playing Lakewood, this year they are legit. That said, as Rabbit for life I will never give in, Poly 17 Lakewood 14.

Lakewood will win. They have an explosive offense and sound defense. Poly allowed a banged up Panther squad gain some pretty good drives against them. However, their size and depth wore out the Panthers. Lakewood has depth and they can match up well. Lakewood 24 Poly 14

The question is does Lakewood really believe they can win. Lakewood has been in this situation many times since 1991. Remember the four horsemen. If Lakewood does not jump out with a big lead early in the game, they will begin to doubt themselves, and then all of a sudden Poly makes a big play and it's over, and the familar cry of wait till next year will be heard again.

I said earlier in the season don't let the Press Telegram fool you and I think that this is going to be the biggest upset in Long Beach high school football history. Don't get me wrong, Lakewood fans are going to be livid when they win, and they should win, it has only been more than a generation since they have won; 26 or 27 years? I think Ronald Reagan was President when they last won. (who?)
Lakewood has the superior players at skill positions as well as superior coaches. Lara is not a great head coach, and he doesn't know how to at least surround himself with a good coaching staff. Same conservative plays year after year. How about some trap blocks or a few misdirection plays, or a few double reverse plays anything. If you are going to try to incorporate new plays this is the year to do it Poly.

The pressure is on Lakewood this year to win, not Poly trying to keep its 80 game Moore League streak. That was evident that the streak was going to end after week two of the season. Lakewood is really in a "Catch 22" position. If they beat Poly, so what, they should beat them, if they don't, then that will be a real upset to write about.
I saw Lakewood play against Crenshaw, and they have a great team with superior skilled position players:QB, DB's, TE, and WR,s, and they play physical. I really like the Lakewood quarterback, he is the best I have seen at QB since Chris Lewis of Poly. The only bad play he and his family are making is that he may go to USC. USC is a good school to earn a degree from if you plan to stay in LA and Orange County, but outside of that a college degree is a college degree. Besides,if I were his dad or him I would not want to sit on the bench for at least two years to get a chance to play, and you know Pete Carrol is still going to try to get even a better quarterback than Scroggins. Watch the college games on Saturdays and you can see where Black quarterbacks are given a chance to play. Look at the history of Black Quarterbacks in California, not very good. He is to good to be sitting on the bench behind an average QB like Barkley.
Lakewood 30 Poly 17
Home Scholars and Champions

It's about time the Press Telegram is focusing on a team in the Long Beach School district area besides Poly. Let's face it. Kids today are finally realizing that going to Poly is not all that great. Lakewood has rebuilt their football program to compete and win with the best. I say Lakewood 34 Poly 14...

Poly 20 Lakewood 17. Poly is looking to focus on this game and I know Coach Lara will have his team ready. Lakewood seems to be out for some type of redemption or validation, and it will get it if they win a CIF Championship, not Moore League. Win CIF or State then we can compare, until then, game on Jackrabbits, game on.

niether team will go far in post anyway...

however strange how a quaterback transgers into poly , doesnt live in area , then transfers to los al, doesnt live in the area..hmmm

lakewood 24 poly 14

poly will score on defense or special teams..

lakewood quarterback i highly overatted and will go nowhere in college...better off a 2 yr colege

hmmmm I smell a NORWACK HATER in our presents !!!

As a former Jackrabbit I use to love to watch us play. Now as Lancer mom of a football player I say GO WOOD!! The Lancers have rebuilt their team, they have the skills and the talent to win. Most of all they are a true team. The connection Scroggins have with his team mates is awesome.. Their is a level of communication that I haven't seen in a long time. The final score Lakewood 34 poly 14.. GO WOOOD

Crenshaw Cougars (Southern California) 42

Grant High (Northern California) 14

California State Championship 2009 Home Depo

Poly 17 Lakewood 10
Poly has played top schools in California and their defense seems to be playing at a higher level than most Moore league schools. Now it seems that their offense is finding their identity. This should be a defensive struggle with Poly finding a way for the green/gold machine to have victory over the Lancers, once again.

I think the game will be a blow out - 35-7 Lakewood - unfortunately...

Let's hope that the score posting here at the Press online will be faster for us fans not in the Long Beach area unlike in the past few weeks. Some of us are over seas and depend on them to post the scores promptly!!

Lakewood wins this game and the 80 game Moore League unbeaten streak comes to an end. The Expert has spoken.

Poly 21, Lakewood 7... Poly class of 05, in the Air Force, Overseas in Iraq. GO JACKRABBITS!

To jackrabbit co/85 to lancer, no real Poly person could ever change over and become a lancer fan even if your kids go there. I live in Lakewood and my kids would never set foot in that phony place. The Rabbits have gone thru a hard pre-season that will have them ready to take down the Lancers. GO POLY!!!!!

To jabari Mr. Moss..... like u guys been crying to your mommas for the last 27 or some odd years... ya been singing this same oh song since the spur possee was there....Long Beach Poly will win 37-17 Stroggins has not seen a defense like this so-far this year with exception of a small glimpse of it in the crenshaw game. We will be in Stroggins face all day. And u guys don't have a strong defense only utopu or whatever. your secondary is suspect specially #28 and your linebackers r small and slow....so go figure shadow, just my onpinion thats it...
