Im a huge Lakewood fan/Alumni, but I really dont think our Lancers are going to beat Bishop Amat. They have a defense that we havent seen and they have beat some pretty impressive teams this year. we have a good chance, but Im sorry to say that it probably wont happen :(

I have to admit that I am from Orange County and I visited the site because I was intrigued with the match-up. I was there Week 0 when Servite and Poly played. Two powerhouse teams. Poly has improved. This will be interesting. Good luck to both schools.

To True lancer1, Im a huge fan and believe that we are very very good, but maybe you should look at some of these other teams that are in our playoffs. They play very good teams all year long and beat them. Im just keeping it real and I hope im wrong. Have you seen who Bishop amat has played and beat?? Have you seen who we have played and beat? big difference.
Sorry you dont like what I write, but we need to scedule tougher teams in the pre-season.
Ps: Poly will get beat on friday. Very undisciplined team. A load of talent, but not a good team this year.

Dear lakewood for life maybe you don't believe in your team but we believe in ours. The Rabbits are gonna surprise a lot of folks and that includes you. They were good enough to give LHS a good scare. Green and Gold 4Life.

Regarding Lakewood vs Amat - the only question is can the Lancers win against a quality team minus Jerry Stone. And it does look to be Edison standing in the way of a title shot. And in no way am I degrading the backs at Lakewood and the job they have done this year. But Stone was a caliber back Lakewood never had before. With that said, the hard work that Scroggins and Anderson did over the summer has to come up clutch for Lakewood to keep on winning. Oh, the Lakewood defense is sneaky good. And that is a good thing.

Poly vs Servite is a mystery matchup. Great running quarterback vs a great defense. Interesting.

To lbpolymom, its great to believe in something that possible, but you guys(poly)will not make it this year, sorry. Also, I believe in reality and reality tells me that we are in trouble this friday. Im bothered that we choose to easy road to get where we are. We should have played tougher teams this season like all the other teams in the PAC5. I think Edison will will it all. This Lakewood fan is also disappointed in the cupcake preseason schedule this year and I hope it doesn't come back to bite us. Amat has always been a thorn in our sides. Still, we have some pretty good players and I think it will be a very competitive game. One thing is certain - we must play our best game this year to advance.

I think Poly will have a tough go this Friday as Servite is the real deal and could maybe go all the way. Servite 24 - Poly 13. Lakewood has a good shot in the "Lancers vrs Lancers" game. I think we will out run them and maybe pull off a 28-24 win.

I think that Edison has the team to be in the State Championship this year. They are impressive. Mission Viejo is strong also. Going to be fun to watch.

lbpolymom, myself and all the"JACKRABBIT ALUMNI" have the one thing (using a term from the 1970's)we know how to "KEEP THE FAITH,BABY".
Loser is not part of our vocabulary at POLY,so it isn't recognized as part of daily life in todays student and certainly not in its " ALUMNI".
The statement" Poly will not make it this year". WE ALREADY HAVE SON! What these young men have shown to the student body and the "ALUMNI" is what "THAT GREEN AND GOLD IS ALL ABOUT".

"Loser" may not be in Poly's vocabulary, but this is what makes certain Poly fans - not all Poly fans, mind you - so insufferable after losses. Some Poly fans never think they should lose, but that makes for a gamut of excuses after losses, such as "It was the coach's fault", "The players screwed up", "The refs were out to get us", "We don't use our talent correctly", etc. Face it - sometimes the other team IS better than Poly and Poly SHOULD lose (examples: De La Salle earlier this decade, Grant last year, Lakewood-Servite-St. Bonnie's this year, Lutheran a few years ago). Whether you want to admit that before a game is up to you, but simply stating that the upcoming opponent is a juggernaut and it will be tough to beat them is hardly conceding defeat before the game is even played.

Poly once was the powerhouse of the west and the nation, but times have changed and we are witnessing the passing of the torch. My Lakewood beat you and we can beat anyone on a good day, but our schedule is weak and your losing record makes us weaker. we need to play and beat better teams. I heart says we win, but my mind tells me different. my mind also says you guys lose bad.

Lakewood fans have a lot of nerve to try to talk about Poly. You are having ONE successful year, but you still have not won the CIF football title. Poly has won about 4 CIF titles in 8 years, and there is not another high school in the PAC5 that has won more than 1 in the same time period. Servite hasn't won anything since 1983. Poly is still a powerhouse. It doesn't matter if we have a down year. If Poly were to keep winning football titles every year they probably would ask Poly not to participate, let someone have a chance of winning. They did the Poly Jazz band like that for winning a music competition every year for 8 consecutive years.

When the season started I did not expect much from Poly. Lakewood was the clear favorite to win this season,and they did. So I am elated that Poly won a playoff game that they were picked to lose. If Poly comes up two gamesshort for a title then this was a good season considering how Poly started the season. Poly has one of the worst teams in years,and they still are in the second round of the playoffs. Now that is a powerhouse. If Poly beats Servite,then what are you going to say?

I'm not going to get into a online sparring match with you,because four of my five kids graduated from Lakewood and all lettered in the sports they played there and they get a kick out of someone like you trying to match wits with me.

Come on Wood! Ya'll probably know that Lakeweed for life is probably a Bishop Amat fan that has been smoking too much ganja and is trying to get into the head of the players for Lakewood. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Fear causes a traducer to do some crazy and weird things. There's a verse that says, "Don't talk like you're taking your amour off before you've even put it on". Our boys are getting prepared, practicing and on Friday night they'll be ready. They cheated during the 04 playoffs doing some nasty stuff in the pile to take out one of the Wood's better players, but this time our third string is aware of the true nature and character of their opponent. They won't be affected by the words of 'Milkweed'. Lakewood is a quality team and they don't play down to any other team and they don't have to get up for any other game. They are simply going to bring the "Wood"!!!!

Lakewood for life fan, did you forget that Poly won CIF last year, and the year before that. We lost in the state championship in 2008, but we were not selected in 2007 to play in it. The state game is not a playoff, doesn't mean anything. Some teams get two weeks off, and other teams get a week off to prepare or get healthy for that game after they have been SELECTED by some CIF officials. Poly won what they were suppose to win.
You said Poly sucked last year, and Poly won, so what does that say about the other schools that did not win the championship last season?
I don't understand the logic in all the Poly haters who say Poly is done. Poly has lost games before, lost about 4 games a few years ago and they came right back to win a few more championships. This is sports, sometimes teams can't win every year, and some teams may never win. (hint) You know once you win a championship you are forever a champion for that year. Poly has many champioships, in fact they have won enough to share with about 20 more high schools. They can afford to give away a few and they still would be champions.
Poly has been the only public school in LA county that can compete with private high schools, and Orange County high schools year after year. Those high schools have triple the resources that Poly has, and they can really legally get players from anywhere. Yet I have never seen so much animosty towards a school that is in one of the most deprived areas of Long Beach. One would think people would appreciate all that the school has accomplished inspite of not having all the resources compared to its competition. I guess it would be just fine with you if a school like Servite were to win every year. Would you hate Servite just as much? I don't think so. It's something deeper that causes some to hate Poly. Can you tell me what it is?

If Lakewood had Jerry Stone this year then we are undefeated and ranked number 1 in the PAC 5 CIF. We don't so the question remains - will the passing game come up clutch for Lakewood to advance? Our defense is underated but very good.

Poly has had a great season considering how awful they looked against Lakewood. Nice turnaround by Coach Lara.

Mr Dwight Wilson, To be honest with you I have a deep love and respect for Poly and appreciate everything they have accomplished over the years. Everything you write is on point. Poly will always be dangerous and everyone knows that. Its fans like you that understand hs football.

Back to football. It should be a fun week. Lakewood will have their hands full with Amat, but they could pull it out. Poly could win another playoff game, but I think Servite will prove to be too much in the end.

Wow. No talk about Dominguez. They beat the #2 seed and the pick doesn't think they can beat Redondo at Dominguez. Redondo doesn't want any part of the hood.

I've watched nearly every Jackrabbit game this year, including Lakewood. The loss of so many key players from last year was a HUGE hurdle to overcome. The beginning of the season showed just how tough a season it would be. But, each and every game, the Rabbits have improved. The team that beat Los Al is not the same team that started the season or played the Lancers. This team may not be as good as the previous PAC5 championship teams, but they have what it takes to make it through these playoffs and they are playing with momentum. I foresee a rematch in the PAC5 final against the Lancers and the Rabbits will avenge that regular season loss. The Lancers may have won the league, but the Rabbits will rule the conference!!
