I know it's not nearly enough, but I'm thinking the Wilson High football team should wear some kind of arm patch or maybe the initials MR on their jerseys for the Wilson High student who was shot and killed Friday night after the game. Just a thought...

It time to beef up security more staff is needed for students despite budget student saftey!
I think ALL Moore League football teams should wear one.
Anyone of us could have been her. God bless MR
Helmet stickers would cost virtually nothing. I'm sure we could raise the money to pay for all the teams.
Wilson shouldn't have to stand alone. It could have been my son at Poly or someone elses daughter at another school.
We are not perfect as a community, city, school district, or police force but we can always do better. We have to do and be a better community.
My suggestion would be a sticker with a pink heart and the initials MR.
I don't have the contacts, but I'd be willing to donate and help get the rest of the funding. Can't be more than $400 for ALL schools-their varsity players only (appx 600). Need The Shadow to get it started.
I heard the enthusiasm of the homecoming game and was happy the our school sports where being enjoyed by so many. my heart was crush as i heard of this tragic event. My heart goes out to the family of this Super girl, and to all the Cambodian Community for there lost. i feel the loss with you and my you are in my prayers.
This is a bad blow to high school sports who are in such need of additional funds due to budget cuts. I feel the people, when caught, should be punished to the full extent of the law. Race related or not their act of violence so close to so many innocent bystanders at this homecoming game, which is a supposed to be an event to raise school spirit and regardless of the color of skin, bring our children together for good clean fun with team spirit, is now effecting all those people, and all of their lives.
This is a tragedy hitting the hearts of so many across the nation and across the world. There could not be a harsh enough punishment for this.
The police need help, help that should be given without fear, i do hope that they get the information needed from the victims and their families, friends and communities to get the proper justice that this tragic death deserves.
For those who know more than others about this event, find strength in the fact that giving information to the police will assist them in serving justice that we all hope for, as a community, as we grieve. This is our city, these are our schools, and theses are our children affected by a tragedy that our children will not soon forget. This wonderful young lady will not be hear to bring joy to the hearts of those around her any more. A loss to more people than we could possibly know.
And to the shooter, serenader yourself, and face your hainis crime. You cannot yet know the impact you have caused on all of us.
shadowman,
this shows the true coward in these so called "gangstas".why don't they as Chris Tucker would say "STAND UP AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN".
WHY? THE REASON BEING THEY WOULD GET THEIR ASSES KICKED! HOW TOUGH ARE YOU NOW? WHO EVER KNOWS THE PEOPLE RESPONDSIBLE FOR THIS SHOULD TELL THE POLICE,IT ISN'T SNITCHING IT"S JUSTICE! I HOPE SOMEONE LETS THEM KNOW THAT THIS IS PURE PRE-MEDITATED MURDER!
WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR MOTHER?
WE ALL HAVE SOME BELIEF IN RELIGION AND WHAT IS JUST AND TRUE TO ONES SELF BUT THE ONE THING THAT ALL OF US BELIEVE " WHAT WOULD JESUS DO"?
Gang members are the scum of the earth. Saying that, this killing should be labeled a "hate crime." Apparently, this gang there hated life and they took a life for no reason at all. I think the government should extend hate crime legislation with gangs killing children and young people. I pray for the family for their loss. This is a killing that should have not happened at all.
All communities should be standing up for violence and get off their behind and care about their communities and not let a bunch of idiots take over.
iwould like to send my heart to the family i speak for all of longbeach poly we wore black shirts in thoughts of her she is an angel and many of us knew her. we loveyou !
Budget cuts nonsense!! Why do we keep hearing this the budget cuts, we have jeporadized our childrens safety due to budget cuts? There should be more security at the games, also the misfits that wear baggy clothes to school should not be allowed to wear that attire anymore. Want to be gangsters just fill our schools with problems, LBUSD should just let them have a school where just those types of people are there that way they can shoot eachother instead of our innocent children that want to do something with their lives. I hope the police catch and shoot the coward that murdered this poor innocent girl. My heart goes out th their family. Myself being a parent of a high school girl, I dont know how i would deal with a tragic incident like that, I do know one thing she will no longer attend football games until the LBUSD provides appropriate security for the games, and i recommend this to all of you parents out there. As far as the budget goes why cant Mr Steinhauser take a paycut from is $300,000 salary to help out? Is he not a team player, I am sure he does not need that kind of money to survive on a day to day basis.
Let me say I'm very sorry for your lost. I have a 12 year old daughter and she plans to attending Wilson in 1 year. However, God said in the last days we would see thing like this happening. We are living in Perilous Times and their are Perilous Cowards so call men. The government should gather all of the wanna be bad guys and send them to fight the real wars in other countries; how would they like that?
My heart goes out to the parents, family and friends of Melody. Especially to Tori, who held Melody until help arrived. My son is one of Melody's friends and he saw her right before the game. He is hurting inside. He has lost a good friend. This is a tragedy. May Melody rest in peace.
I don't have a child at Wilson but this is a horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to Melody's family and friends.
She should be honored after the game at all moore league games, since this act took place after the game. A moment of silence that should be heard across the city of LB.
I am wondering...when will our Long Beach parents finally turn to vigilantism. That is what finally controlled gang-like violence in the old days.
It is time for Long Beach city council to take bold, decisive action...now!
Glad Poly liked my sticker idea. Too bad it wasn't passed on from PT. We would have paid for it. The Shadow must Dougeeeeee. i.e. "catcher"
Dougie don't do blogs... still types his stories on a 30-year-old typewriter (kidding)
