Poly played a great game! Unfortunately, the officiating was less than stellar. Especially, the 4th down pass interf. call against Poly in the final minutes of play. Kaelin Clay had a monster game. I for one would have liked to have seen him carry the ball a lot more than he did. Special teams play for Poly was a sore spot with a blocked punt, missed extra pt., a botched fake punt (I am not sure it was planned or the punter just took off...Hayden?) and finally the blocked field goal attempt to tie the game in the last few seconds of the game. Overall, Poly played with tremendous heart! Congrats on turning the season around in the second half!
I am very proud of this years Poly team. You guys played your hearts out. Pre-season, moore league, and pac-5 opponents watch out next year, because there will be a green and gold storm coming. 90% of Poly's starters will be back next year. I can not wait to here the comments when we are on top next year. I know some poly fans are not going to like this but I hope Lakewood takes this years Pac-5 championship. Not only would it make the Moore League look stronger, but I can not stand any of those Orange County teams period!
Can anyone comment on the interference on 4th down that bailed out Servite? Was it a good call or was it a save Servites butt call? Poly missed way too many tackles, they didn't wrap up Servite. Just too many yards after Poly made first contact. Don't worry Poly fans, next year Poly will be back to normal. This was not a typical Poly team. Yet they were good enough to beat Servite, just did finish their tackles.
Good luck to Poly and best wishes to Servite.
Damen al-aziz there many Poly fans in Orange County. The OC newspaper has no love for Poly but the teams and fans respect the Green and Gold. I always let the OC fans know who is the king of high school football in SoCal through sports BLOGS. Poly will be back next year.
Poly played well enough to win and probably should have one. Questionable calls by refes all night, especially the fourth down delayed pass interference. Why did the referee delay throwing the flag? Who knows. Anybody that has been going to Poly games knows that all the calls are going against Poly, except when they play Compton. LA county schools rarely get the favorable calls. Orange County schools seem to benefit the most in football and basketball calls.
I can say the refes handed the game to Servite, but the play calling by Lara was suspect. Run the ball for two point conversions. Kicking game was not working, and neither was trying to throw it for two points, run the ball.
Regardless, I hope Lakewood will play Servite for the Pac 5 championship. It shoud be Poly and Lakewood in the final game, but the referees spoiled that. It would show the that the two best teams in the PAC 5 really come from the Moore League.
If you weren't at the game don't make any comments about Poly fans making excuses, we are not, Servite won. Poly just forgot to factor in enough points to beat the refrees too.
Poly will be back on top soon enough.
Go Lakewood, just remember you have to score enough to beat Edison and the referees.
bonehead poly fans ..blaming refs...it was a good call, i was there, saw it...poly has alot of mistakes and penaltiies because thre young and not as experienced...stop blaming the refs..
your lucky you made the playoffs...
poly and lakewood rule the press telegram..of course they dont rule the oc paper...duh
oc football, like softball is far better than the moore league will ever be..
I was at the game (great seats too) and that PI call was absolute garbage. Talking to Servite fans as we all headed to our cars & even they admit they got a gift call on that so don't even pretend you saw anything different, Anonymous.
Servite looks like they don't have what it takes to go all the way & will get bounced next week.
Anonymous who are you trying to fool? are you trying to use the Jedi mind trick? "OC football is better than the Moore League".Huh? A Moore League school is the two time defending pac-5 champion. And they beat a whole lot of OC Teams to get there. I have no excuses we lost. Even after a sub par season for Poly standards. Im sure there was alot of schools who did not want to see us in the playoffs. I feel sorry for the teams who go up against us next year. It's going to be fun. Lakewood bring it home and prove anonymous wrong about Moore League teams.
Ref's gave a "gift" to Servite? Which game were you watching!?!? They didn't call 2 pass interference calls on Poly and it was blatant. Ref said ball wasn't catchable. Yeah, because the 2ndary tackled the guy 5 yards before he was supposed to be there. AND!!! how can the ref call a facemask call AFTER he blew the play dead and gave the Poly running back forward progress!?!? I also loved the play when one Poly player came out of the sideline to tackle Servite's RB AFTER the play was already in progress. Classic. Look, it was a good game. Poly did get better as the season progressed. Poly just lost to the better team. Plain and simple.
Poly should have won the game, the boys played a good game the coaches didn't put them in position to win the game. can we get a off. cord. from o.c.? that's the problem!!!!
way to go on turning the season around poly! lots are said about the game vs. servite, but it was a great game. eventhough servite didn't deserve it. they thought it was the same team they played beging of the season. and if that was servites improvement throughout the season, ooh, i can't waite till next year. poly will regroup and will wipe everything in its quest for the championship. don't worry, can't count poly out completely this year. as long as lakewood is still in it, can't get rid of moore league. as poly do well years before, up hold their championship and represent moore league to the fullest.
congrat to lakewood. good luck on your quest for the championship. hope you guys keep the championship local and with its rightful owner, MOORE LEAGUE.
Green & Gold, Servite didn't deserve it? What?!? And I assume Poly is the only team that deserves it right? Poly didn't even win their league and you still think they are the powerhouse of 2 years back? Servite knew Poly improved. You homers can talk about getting better, but you faced a Servite squad that played without their srarting defensive lineman and their starting tight end. Say, cry, gripe all you want, but the fact is Poly faced and under manned Servite sqaud and Poly STILL lost.
"...can't count Poly out completely this year...",last time I checked...Poly is out of the playoffs. You are counted out.
And another thing, beating Poly once is already enough. Beating Poly twice in the same season says volumes about Servite. Give credit where credit is due. Poly just lost to a better team. Plain and simple.
Poly was also missing a lineman that got hurt in the Los AL game. Servite was the better team at the start of the year but in the last game Poly was the better team and Plain and Simple the Refs made bad calls aginst Poly... it was not a mistake the Refs new what they were doing they knew what the outcome of the game had to be.
John, everyone here posts that your Poly team was better. OK...let's just say your theory is true. Everyone is saying it so it must be true right? So why the heck did they lose?
The refs right?
Can someone else on this post stop pointing the finger at the refs and starting manning up? It seems like Poly can do no wrong and if they lose, it's either the refs fault, the weather's fault, or that darn cheerleader that annoyed EVERYBODY.
Here goes (and Poly fans see if you can follow): Good teams win the tough games right? Good teams take advantage of opportunities right?
Servite fumbled a backward pass. Poly recovered. RESULT = Poly misses the field goal
Poly scored 2 touchdowns. RESULT = 2 failed extra point tries.
Poly tries a fake field goal and a fake punt. RESULT = Servite stops them.
Servite faced with 4th and goal. Great Poly defense right Poly fans? RESULT = go ahead touchdown
Poly goes for the tie (not the win) with a field goal. RESULT = blocked field goal.
I'm not stating opinion. I'm stating fact. Now you tell me, who was the better team?
The Footlocker refs blow the game for Poly.
ok you poly lovers go away .... and let the real champs do what they do.... Did you really think you could get the job done ....PS- ROTFL
