The P-T's Top 10 happens to be exactly the same as The Shadow's:
1. Lakewood (8-1)
2. Los Alamitos (6-2)
3. Warren (7-1)
4. La Mirada (7-1)
5. Norwalk (7-1)
6. St. John Bosco (4-4)
7. Poly (3-5)
8. Wilson (5-3)
9. Millikan (6-3)
10. Gahr (5-3)

why do you have Lakewood as your number one pick if you don't support their efforts? There is rare coverage of a team that is undefeated in Moore League and clinched the league. It's like the treatment Lakewood schools get from LBUSD. The last for recognition and the last for school funding. Do we need to be called Long Beach Lancers to get some recognition?
Who in the Top 10 has the best chance of success through the upcoming playoffs? There are atleast 2 teams on that list that probably will not make the playoffs, but I am interested to know who everyone thinks will be successful and why?
Big game this week, #3Warren vs. #10Gahr. The run against the pass. Jesse Callier vs. Casey Nielsen. Area's top rusher faces the area's top passer. Who ever controls the ball will win.
Wilson and SJB will not make the playoffs, and maybe Gahr if they lose these last 2.
I am afraid c-los is correct: that Bosco will not make the playoffs. They would need to win their last two games against JSerra and Mater Dei. While Bosco is favored to defeat JSerra, there are certainly no guarantees, particularly with Bosco's undisciplined execution and conservative play calling. And of course, Mater Dei would require an upset victory by Bosco, something that would require perhaps a new offensive scheme and creative coaching. (Message to Coach Mendoza: Don't call plays for the next two games. Give that duty to your most creative, risk-taking assistant coach.)
I love Bosco, but I am losing my faith.
SJB has not controlled the line of scrimmage against better teams, especially on offense. Their only hope of scoring a bunch of points against good teams is putting in a lot of misdirection plays to the outside, counter-traps, reverses, and anything else getting defensive pursuit to go one way while the ball goes the other way. Putting in a few trick plays wouldn't hurt either.
Just remember, The Shadow writes for the Baja Lakewood Press Telegram.
Lancer... I don't get it. Baja Lakewood Press-Telegram? What does that mean?
California
Baja California
Get it now? Old line by former Mayor Mark Hannaford.
Lancer,
I recently moved to Lakewood from Kansas. Can you explain, because I still don't get it.
Thanks,
Joe
Lakewood used to be "looked down upon" by Long Beach. In the late 60's early 70's Mark Hannaford was elected Mayor of Lakewood. He was a pretty funny guy and very smart. At one point he called Long Beach "Baja Lakewood". The reference being that Long Beach was "below" Lakewood, like Baja California was "below" California. Nothing sinister, just a wise crack meant with no ill will. Just like my comment about the IPT, which by the way, is STILL my favorite paper even though I moved from LB in 1974. The Shadow is still behind my favorite sport reporter, Loel Schrader.
