No changes to this week's Top 10. Each of the top eight won their games (Lakewood didn't play). Be sure to check The Shadow blog Monday night to see the P-T's official Top 10 before it's published in Tuesday's paper.
1. Lakewood (8-1 ... vs. inspired Wilson for Moore League crown Friday)
2. Los Alamitos (7-2 ... another tough game Friday vs. Fountain Valley)
3. Warren (8-1 ... Callier continues to impress)
4. La Mirada (8-1 ... managed to avoid letdown after beating Norwalk previous week)
5. Norwalk (8-1 ... started slowly before blasting Artesia)
6. St. John Bosco (5-4 ... big rally vs. JSerra to keep playoff hopes alive)
7. Poly (4-5 ... finally woke up in fourth quarter to beat Cabrillo)
8. Wilson (6-3 ... seemed to play inspired in blowing out Jordan)
9. Millikan (6-4 ... disappointing loss to Compton to end regular season)
10. Gahr (5-4 ... came out on losing end of exciting game vs. Warren)

wow that is believable, but why do they not look into these things? is it because jesse callier is so good they leave the school alone?
1. Lakewood (8-1 ... Big Moore League Championship game against WMilson this friday..Inspired or uninspired, Milson is still Wilson and should just try to keep the Lancers under 60 points..Lakewood 60 Milson 0)
2. Los Alamitos (7-2 ...Over hyped and over heating beat up old Ford, hanging on to their playoff lives by shredded yarn)
3. Warren (8-1 ... Callier, Callier, Callier, Callier, no one else matters)
4. La Mirada (8-1 ...Still, no one cares)
5. Norwalk (8-1 ...This team and the 2 above it would lose to atleast 3 teams ranked below it on this list)
6. St. John Bosco (5-4 ... Had to rally against J-Serra...Did I mention that they had to rally against J-Serra?)
7. Poly (4-5 ...I heard that Raul Lara has ordered his players 100 Vaccines for what he claims has been a season long H1N1 BunnySwine Flu...Just in time for the playoffs)
8. Wilson (6-3 ...The worst team to ever play for a Moore League championship in the History of Long Beach)
9. Millikan (6-4 ...FINALLY back to reality!! Millikan will always be Milli-Kant)
10. Gahr (5-4 ...BREAKING NEWS OUT OF GAHR: Mike Martz has just been FIRED by the Gladiators. When asked about his termination, Coach Martz replied, "Live by the pass, Die by the pass b&*@!&s"!!!!..)
Interesting fact but to be honest thier is more than one school with this problem, to alot of coaches its all about winning not teaching these kids about life. All you have to do is check the graduating rates of the seniors who played football on the good teams. How are some great players not even eligible to go straight to college have to to make up classes at a JC but are able to play senior year??? Warren barely beat Gahr, I watched it thought it would be the Callier show at first but seeing all the missed chances Gahr had I can say Warren got lucky! Oh and Warren had no class after the game so the bad coaching actually shows. With the way transfers are getting now High School Football is gonna get just as bad as HS basketball.
To: By the Expert. It appears that you are a Lakewood fan. During the passing league Wilson lost to Lakewood only because the flip of a coin. The Wilson/Lakewood game will be the game to see this week. Good luck to WILSON!!!!
HI Football Mom....Last I checked, the school's both agreed that this weeks game will be played with helmets and pads. I don't know why they changed things but they both agreed that a 7 on 7 game in November isn't appropriate, especially since they will be playing tackle football. Go figure. However, I do agree that Wilson will need "Good Luck" if they plan on scoring any points. Wilson did not score on Poly until the 4th quarter and that was after Poly pulled some of it's starters. Lakewood has one of the stingiest defenses in all of southern california and one of the most explosive offenses in ALL of california. I venture to say Wilson better bring their rabbits feet, buffalo nickels, fortune cookies, and maybe send a few black cats out in front of the Lakewood bus when they arrive friday night...That might help Wilson have "Good Luck"!! Hidee Hooo Neighbor!!
Football mom-Passing league means nothing but with that being said, I do believe that Wilson will give Lakewood everything they want and thensome. Wilson will finally break through and win a big game this year. Lakewood will be going back home in their RVs with a second place finish in league to Wilson. Go Bruins!
If you DON'T want your son to play football without graduating from high school, then you might consider sending him to Bosco. As a Bosco mom, I am proud to say that 100% of our football team will graduate, with all but one attending college next year. Most of our kids have completed their state high school requirements by the end of their junior year. Even our academically "borderline" freshmen are college-bound by the time they are seniors. We play good football, but it's not all about football. I know, because my son was a lazy, underachieving student in eighth grade who tested poorly. Four years later, he is college-bound to a Pac-10 school, not for athletics, but because he made it in with good SAT scores. I am so proud of him.
Football Mom and Swami! I will be at the Lakewood and Wilson game on Friday, and you best believe Lakewood is coming strong and will be ready to put 50+ points on the board this Friday, and Wilson better hope they will be able to score against the explosive defense they have coming at them. Put like I've told everyone else before; this team has players going to USC, Notre Dame, Azizona State next year and should I say anymore! Lakewood wants the Moore League Title Bad and beating Poly just put them one step closer. If they did not let Poly get in their way, do you honestly think they will let Wilson? Come on give me a break and please let's keep it real! I strongly believe they will win Moore League this year, and please keep in mind that this is the same Lakewood Team that won Moore League when they were Freshman's, beat Poly in the Championship game. So let's just sit back and relax and let the show begin this Friday. Lakewood will beat Wilson by more points than they beat them last year and then some,I guarantee it!!...Go Lakewood this is your year!!
One thing you Lakewood honks forgeting. Wilson has emotion on there side. see what they did to Jordan. the young lady who tragicaly lost her life is on there minds and they will surprise everyone. lakewood lookin ahead to playoffs
Josh Bell will dominate the lakewood little corners just like he did that hot July afternoon in Santa Fe. I hope that poor little kid cornerback comes to play or else it will be a long day for him...Go Wilson!
Bitter much?? lol..It's okay..HATERZZ like u just INSPIRE LM 2 do better..please keep it coming..and if u want ..i would be more than happy 2 name ur players that live in LONG BEACH..but play 4 lakewood..hahaha..FFFAAACCCTTT!!!!
FYI, Lakewood High School is in the Long Beach School District.
You tell 'em ProudMom!!
Gooooooo Boscoooo!!!!
bruin4life,
you might want to look at what Lakewood has done on the scoreboard in league--
Lakewood scored 228 points ,gave up 29 points
Wilson scored 167 points ,gave up 74 points
overall points season Lakewood 369-71
Wilson 254-163 WOW
Prediction: Lakewood will lose to Edison in the Pac-5 semifinals;Los Al will fall to Mision Viejo in the other semi;Warren (GO BEARS!!!!) will upset St.Francis in the Western division finals. As for Norwalk and La Mirada, does anyone but their respective diehard partisans really care!FINAL NOTE:I will not be surprise if Poly , in two or three years, will return as State, and possibly,National, Maxpreps Champions.
After what Coach Lara did last week for Wilson,
I hope that he does have the team to take it to State. In my opinion, he is the GREATEST Coach. My respect for Coach Lara and his team has gone up a million notches. Thank you
Coach Lara for showing Long Beach who you really are.....caring.
Lakewood is tougher than Wilson and will beat them....just like they did with Jeff Bouroughs at QB. 27-0! Go Lancers!
Lancer 4 Life, if you really love Lara, buy him some long pants. His shorts are hidious.
sounds like a bunch of warren bear HATERS out there let the kids play ball. They probably learn more on the field than in the classroom anyway i know i did when i went to warren GO BEARS!
Let's be realistic here. Wislon, a team that has been virtually BLOWN OUT 3 times this year is playing for the MOORE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. THAT'S how bad the Moore League is this year. Lakewood was expected to be the team to beat and they have not disappointed. Poly was supposed to be young, depleted, but still good...They've even managed to come up shorter than that.. Jordan was supposed be good but then Timu got hurt and they are now painful to watch...Compton was supposed to be Compton but they have been especially bad and poorly coached... Whistle, I mean Wsilon, Wislon, excuse me, Wilson is exactly who they always are. They talk the loudest and never deliver because they can't. They simply do not have the guns to compete with the LB Polys, Los Alamitos', Edisons, Lakewoods...Wilson is cereal no milk, ham no burger, peanut butter no jelly....The Moore League Championship game should actually be a Lakewood intersquad scrimmage. That would be more compelling and seemingly more fitting.
Wow, 7th & Ximeno, you really have issues with Wilson. Let's see how the game goes Friday night.
The comments and claims of any wrongdoing by the Warren coaching staff and/or administration are unproven and unverified and unfounded. And in my opinion, unfair. If anyone truly has any proof of accusations to make about Warren or any other school, report the alleged violations to CIF.
