Once again, this is not the P-T's official Top 10; it's The Shadow's. The P-T Top 10 comes out in Tuesday's paper, but you can see it first here on The Shadow's blog on Monday night.
1. Lakewood (8-1)
2. Los Alamitos (6-2)
3. Warren (7-1)
4. La Mirada (7-1)
5. Norwalk (7-1)
6. St. John Bosco (4-4)
7. Poly (3-5)
8. Wilson (5-3)
9. Millikan (6-3)
10. Gahr (5-3)

Good top 10, big game this week in SGVL Gahr's pass vs. Warren's run. Bosco & POLY still very good teams.
your bottom 3 could flip flop around at any time..
That 3,4,5 spot is very tough. Warren and Norwalks ground attacks and La Mirada's balanced team. Overall i think this going to be the top 10 for sure. If i were to change it a little i would switch La Mirada and Warren.
Pretty good top ten here. One question though, why is Poly still ahead of Millikan? I am familiar with the Moore League, and Poly is a great team, great program and very talented. My thought though is that Millikan, while seemingly a one man show has a better record and a head to head victory. Strength of schedule perhaps ? Lakewood alum so I'll say it, GO LANCERS! And great year for Moore League football so far.
Here's why it's 7) Poly, 8) Wilson 9) Millikan...
These three Moore League teams have all played each other, and each has one win and one loss. Poly beat Wilson, Wilson beat Millikan, Millikan beat Poly. Poly's loss was by one point in double-OT to Millikan, 35-34. Wilson's loss was a blowout loss to Poly (34-15) and Millikan's loss was a blowout loss to Wilson (33-7). Also, Poly and Millikan have both played Lakewood. Poly lost, 21-14; Millikan lost 60-7. Wilson hasn't played Lakewood yet.
Shadow... What do you think about this La Mirada team?
Shadow, lets be realistic here! top 10 should come down to who could beat who, not a popularity contest or best record right? I know there are some other factors that come into play but if you add all the other factors this is the way it should pan out!
1. Lakewood - are there any questions
2. Los Al - might not make the playoffs but has anyone took a look at the Sunset league?
3 Warren - solid team even knocked of sum of the teams in your top 10
4. St. John Bosco - has anyone herd of the Trinity league?
5. La Mirada - got to give credit were it is due, one loss ad that loss was not to a 8 man football program
6. Poly - starting to get the wheels going, but we all knew that was going to happen
7. Millikin - they did beat Poly, (if you were to send a team to the playoffs who would choose? answer number 7
8. Wilson - failed when it was your turn to make history , that's ok still a good ball team
9. Gahr - Lost to Millikin by 1 point (no more to say but Millikin made history), anyone else in the area could not defeat this ball team.
10. Norwalk - you can't go by record,(we went through that last week). I so wish that we could have some kind of warm up games before C.I.F. playoffs, this way the myth that came in the picture the last 7 or 8 weeks about we can beat poly and we could beat bosco and every other team above Norwalk, would kind of well you get my point! Put some real teams on your schedule then you will get some props! Norwalk fans you stated " we didn't make the schedule for these teams a loss is a loss". Well check it out you got a 3 on the P.T. TOP 10, frame that you wont see that until next season! I just pray for your kids in that program that they can bounce back and win the ship for you just lost your ranking of 1 in C.I.F,AND DON'T FORGETT YOU STILL HAVE A COUPLE MORE GAMES IN YOUR LEAGUE(don't jump ahead)! The next time you speak make sure you think because pre-season has alot to do with the strength of your program! unless of course all that your worried about are RANKINGS! It's all about who's there in the end "you can have the rankings" Norwalk fans and coaches back to reality!
AREA FAN~~~~~~~~
Wow.. Norwalk #10? Did you just move into town? or are you just not all there? Norwalk played a good game against la mirada.. they didnt get blown out! it was a good close game! Even if they played a week pre-season schedule.. they showed friday they can play with the big boys who did have a better schedule! Just Give them boys some respect meat!
GREAT TOP 10 SHADOW..
shadowman,
great coverage on positions of most of the schools.
what the fans need to look at and get rid of is their emotional ties to these schools and look at the one thing that you've been saying all along, "STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE".
if i would ever have them in the jury box i would feel sorry for any defendant "would they really be fair and listen to the facts or at least look at them and make fair judgement?
oh and by the way tried to find the stats on the edison/los al. game.i wanted to know how the lagarde traveling minstrel show did? i know they lost but what happened with mr.man?
To All the negative comments, from the Norwalk people, towards LaMirada.
I have been holding my comments, until we played Norwalk, and now all I can say is that ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!!!! Nothing else needs to be said. Ok, one more thing, don't you hate when you have to eat your words.
RESPECT? This is to all you one sided Norwalk fans. Just for the record I am not a Poly, La Mirada, Los Al, or a Lakewood fan by any means! But when your doing rankings there are no favorites! Give your kids respect? You had your chance on Friday nite and FAILED! Now you want to come back with, WOULD OF SHOULD OF COULD OF CRAP. Do your home work before you speak. You told the P.T. readers that you could beat Poly, Los Al, etc. etc.. (reminder Los AL handled La Habra and in turn La Habra tossed La Mirada)! La Mirada is a good ball club but is no were close to the talent they have in the Moore league or the Sunset league for that matter. I would really like to know your justification for Norwalk to be above 10 or even to be in the top 10 rankings? Would it be because of the fact that you finally played a team this year that wasn't governed by POP WARNER and lost by 9? Respect is earned not given and if you think your record thus far reflects the respect your boys have earned, you better go back and do your home work. As you stated before about area teams pre- season schedules. A loss is a loss I don't make up your schedule. If you want more I can give you more, quit making fools out of the kids in your program from your blogs. YOU WILL GET MORE RESPECT THAT WAY!
Great Job LM..Great job..like i said b4..LM wanted it MORE..and proved it..they didn't give up..they went in and got the JOB done..GREAT JOB 2 the coaches, players and most of aLL the FANS!! 2 more teams 2 go..and if i know LM..they will go in hard like they always do..NO EXCEPTIONS..Great Job guys..
haha hey guy get a muzzle... so who do you cheer for? Why are you not cheering for them? Norwalk or La Mirada do NOT have as many kids going to their schools, thats why they are not as strong as los Al, Poly, Lakewood. Remember.. the more kids you have at the school... the more chances the school will have better athletes.. its not rocket science! more people = more athletes!!!
Well im guessing you were in band or something BLOWING on a trumpet this friday night..... because if you would of been @ the game you would of seen the great game that it was.. Yes Norwalk Lost... they didnt get blown out.. and didn't quit. La Mirada was the better team that night, and best of luck to them!
So once again area fan... who do you cheer for?
To area fan:
With all due respect, you seem to have a problem with St. John Bosco. You ask, have you ever heard of the Trinity League? Well...have you ever heard of Mater Dei? Or Servite? Or Orange Lutheran? Every one of these teams would be in the Press-Telegram's top 5 if they were in the P-T's immediate distribution area.
Not sure if you don't read a lot about football outside our immediate area, or if you just have a problem with Catholic schools.
First I would like to address the Bosco critic, no disrespect I think that was taken the wrong way! The meaning was, TRINITY LEAGUE IF YOU HAVEN'T HERD OF THIS LEAGUE (LIKE THE NORWALK GUY SAID) YOU MUST BE BLOWING A TRUMPET IN THE BAND! Bosco solid program year in and year out! One of my family members was an assistant coach there at one time! No disrespect at all, if you guys were in another league you would make more noise than you are allready making. SOLID PROGRAM TOP TO BOTTOM.
NOW THE NORWACK GUY. THIS IS COMEDY! GO BACK IN YOUR BLOGS PARTNER, CAUSE YOUR CONTRADICTING YOUR SELF! I love how your fans along with your self make all these bold statements and when you don't produce you make statements like, bigger schools and what have you. Go back in your blogs the facts are you or your fans called all the big boys out, STATEMENT: WE WILL BEAT POLY! You definitely are asking the wrong person to put a muzzle on. YOUR BOYS HAVE NOT PLAYED ANYBODY! I truly think you don't know football, for there are many schools with less than 2500 students that beat the big boy's, here I will give you one SERVITE! THE NEXT THING YOU WILL SAY IS THEY RECRUIT RIGHT! "PROOVE IT!" I WILL END IT LIKE THIS.This is the second year that we have all herd that your program is the best in the area. Then when the challenge comes and the boys loose there are all these contradictions. LET THE BOYS PLAY! Oh and by the way I am a Oregon and Arizona state fan- one of my kids plays at Oregon one plays at Arizona state. DO YOUR HOME WORK FIGURE OUT THE HIGH SCHOOL TEAM I CHEER FOR!
Hey BoscoCritic. I don't think area fan has a problem with St. John Bosco. He ranked you guy's #4. I believe he was simply saying you can not go by a teams record in these rankings. You have to go by stregnth of schedule. That being said, the Trinity league is a hell of a stregnth of schedule with all those good teams in it.
i have to agree with area fan and bosco critic. Bosco do have a tough schedule going up agains O.Lu, Mater, and Servite. while Norwalk blow out teams like Cerritos, Glen, Bellflower, Los Amigos and South El Monte? come on these teams are not highly ranked as the teams that are in the Trinity League. If there was a game bewteen Bosco and Norwalk, i'll choose Bosco. I dont think Norwalk belongs on #10 but not ranked after bosco or poly. i say the 8,9,10 spot should be mixed between Milikan, Norwalk, and Gahr
As a lurker - I usually don't jump into the fray, but i feel i need to clarify the LM loss this season to La Habra. Yes - we lost and would still probably lose if we played them again at this point in our season but not as badly. We had just won our first game of the season against St. Paul of which we were projected to lose. We not only won but were able to overcome a multitude of penalities. Our boys came into the LH game over confident and under estimating the LH strength and talent. We were killed, deservedly so. But it was an eye opener and I think the team learned, never expect to win. This Friday's game was a perfect illustration of that lesson. We scored 1st - but Norwalk came & took our thunder & by half-time we were questioning our team - but we made adjustments - never gave up and were able to contain their running game against big gains. Very exciting and very energizing and totally humbling as a parent to witness the fortitude and spirit of our players. As we used to say when I was a student there, WE ARE LM! GO BIG BLUE!
To all you LM moms you go girls.H P T
I wouldnt be able to see what team you cheer for.. they dont have the practice squad teams roster on either websites so I can figure out who your sons are or what team you cheer for! hahahaha
I would agree with some of the above comments as far as Bosco goes. A schedule that includes St. Bonnie's, Mater Dei, Servite & Orange Lu is pretty brutal.
They should have won that Orange Lu game though. That was a poorly coached game and the boys were just committing way too penalties.
