Grading Taylor

Darrel Taylor, interim superintendent of the Pasadena schools, recently enumerated his goals in the district.

Reading from one of his many legal pads, Taylor said he had six objectives for his four months in Pasadena:

  1. Develop trust and improve communication both inside the district and with the community.

  2. Focus on the district's mission and goals by setting specific objectives within each department.

  3. Improve board meetings by discouraging personal attacks and ending meetings earlier.

  4. Conduct an organizational review of the district office (He plans to release his report soon)

  5. Plan long-term budget strategies to address projected shortfalls in coming years.

  6. Develop a plan for the district's surplus property sites.

I put the question to you -- how has he done?
