Pasadena Bizarre News

| | Comments (31)

Apparently the Pasadena Bizarre News is a holiday tradition at City Hall. Too damn awesome. Most entries mock stories of mine from the past year, as well as the work of Janette Williams, Robert S. Hong and former reporter Mary Frances Gurton. I've opted to take it as homage. ((Erdman: You'll pay for this! >:D))

Erdman and her Doo Dah buddy Coston just had their stupid Pasadena Follies show canceled by the Pasadena Senior Center. It's obviously Erdman who has been using her influence with Coston to have the Doo Dah villify the City's political enemies. The Doo Dah's next Erdman...then you.

Here here! Then we can eliminate music, and all that damn laughter at the comedy clubs -- and ART! Don't even get me started on art! Maybe if we work really hard we can wash out all "unconventional" things that makes it Pasadena . . .

Newcomers (less than three or four generations) often don't get this town. We aren't the conservative snow-free, humorless-gulag you were hoping for when you left the mid-west. . . or fled to dour-Arcadia. Spoil sports (including full-of themselves recent J-school grads playing at being "real Reporters")are a bother.

What the heck are you two talking about? Bizarre News was the funny!

if i tried to make a newspaper that was pretending to be funny but was really intended to be a parody of an attempt to be funny by producing something really lame and retarded and unfunny it would look something like this.

I thought it was hilarious, which makes me wonder about the priorities @ city hall. This tom foolery was published during the height of the beijing float controversy. I guess some folks had time for satire during the tragic testimony. This is attitude is why the Falun Gong wants to sue Pasadena. City government should not be marginalized to a freak show of a counter cultural parody newspaper.

Oh, for the love of God, here we go again. Pasadena Bizarre News is produced once a year on personal time, not City time. That being said, your comments are constructive and I will take them to heart. I'll work very hard at being somber and fatalistic 24/7.

Can't we just outlaw fun of any kind and get it over with?

Kevin

You've got to find a way to tax laughter because this week my sides just ache from it.

Laughter will soon be prohibited like everything else that feels good.

All that will be left is the drone of heart heavy dramatic purple prose and no way to escape that horror.

The first poster up above seems to have an obsession with Ann Erdman. Assuming it is the same individual as in the posts on other threads, it should be noted that posts have moved beyond fair comment, in my opinion. "The Doo Dah's next Erdman...then you." That is a threat. It is worrisome to see messages grow increasingly strident and now threatening. If I were Ms. Erdman,
I would refer this thread to law enforcement with a request that they conduct an assessment and evaluation to see if there is any cause for concern. But that is me....

Anonymous said:

yes yes...Erdman is being "threatened" with sharing the same fate as the Pasadena Follies...oh noes!

So when the Doo Dah told Wayne Lusvardi that they would mock him as a chicken in front of thousands of people if he refused to participate in their money making adventure was the Doo Dah parade threatening Lusvardi? And does Ann Erdman have any control over who gets selected as the Thorny Rose?

If I had someone making obsessive postings about me and warning that I am next, I would not think it all too funny nor within the realm of parody, satire or commentary. Someone is going way too far.....in my opinion.

I don't get the significance of the photo. Is that a photo of you, Miss Havisham?

Anonymous said:

i dont really think its obsessive...its topical....this thread is about Erdman's newspaper and its mention of Measure D and whether or not she was involved in threatening Wayne Lusvardi with public humiliation.

Anonymous said:

Does Lusvardi claim that he has been subject to public humiliation?

Anonymous said:

Erdman and the owner of the Doo Dah work together on the Pasadena Follies...Erdman has appeared in the Doo Dah parade as a guest of honor and this year she made a speech at the parade...so its reasonable to conclude that she might be one of the people involved in selecting the Thorny Rose. After Lusvardi was selected by Erdman's friends to appear in their money making parade they threatened Lusvardi, claiming they would publicly humiliate him if he refused to participate in their money making scheme. I want to know if a City of Pasadena employee was involved in that.

If the City helped arrange for its current #1 political opponent to be publicly humiliated in a parade as a result of his stance on a ballot measure two weeks before an election would you say that constituted campaigning by the City? Because campaigning by the City is a crime.

you should come forward and do a press release. A real one! With a contact person!

The Pasadena Family Values Coalition is looking into this. Be prepared for a press release.

Re. significance of photo, Don't you recognize her? She is the Poet Laureate of City Council Chambers. She hath DooDahed. She hath sung the song of China woe to us all with our unclean hands.

Or, something like that.

Come now, conspiracy theorists, you're losing your fragile grip on reality! The chicken has been the "or else" for Thorny Rose recipients since day one.

Anonymous said:

I was in vIP at Doo Dah and I can tell you Ann Erdman did not "make a speech." She was invited by Tom Coston to present the Thorny Rose Award, but after she called for Lusvardi and he didn't materialize, she sat down. Get your facts straight, and get off her back.

The real issue is that there was an entry in the Doo Dah parade supporting Obama for President. He is a partisan candidate for political office. The parade was on a city street which means that the city used its resources for partisan political activity. I hope that the family value coaltion takes that one on as it is shameful.

Hillary was in tears and it is just not fair.

Anonymous said:

Actually Hillary Laughed as her opponent was marginalized to the freak show of a counter cultural parade.

The Pasadena Family Values Coalition is also looking into the author of two of the stories. It is not funny to threaten the children of the PUSD with infection of tape worms and Miss Spears. What happened to Pasadena being family friendly?

Anonymous said:

You need to define a threat. I like the idea from Kevin. Just outlaw fun of any kind. Some of you need to relax.
