Nine more former Los Angeles Valley College athletes, coaches and administrators will be induced as the sixth class of the athletic Hall of Fame in a June 30 ceremony.
Making up the class of 2012:
== Jim Arellanes, an All-American quarterback with the Monarchs in 1994 (who went onto Fresno State and the Seattle Seahawks);
== Distance runner David Babiracki, who set national JC records in the three mile and 10,000 meters in the early 1970s;
== Diana Hoffman, a women’s volleyball and basketball star in the early 1960s who went on to the U.S. national team and coached at Cal Lutheran and Cal State Northridge;
== Pole vaulter Tim Knappen, who won the state title in 1970 and holds the school record in the decathlon that stands today;
== Basketball player Jim Malkin, a first-team All-Metro player who went to Cal State Northridge (when it was called San Fernando Valley State) and is in their Hall of Fame;
== Trung Nguyen, the LAVC football equipment manager from 1991-2011;
== Terrell Ray, who starred as a wide receiver from 1964-65 before going to USC and the NFL’s Falcons, Packers and Redskins;
== Rock Richmond, a defensive back and punt returner in ’76-’77 named to the J.C.Gridwire All-1970s Decade team before moving onto the University of Oregon and Pittsburgh Steelers;
== Mike Wiley, who coached the swim team at Valley for 18 years and won nine conference dual-meet championships and the 1970 state championship.
Previous inductees include football stars Don Shinnick, basketball player Jack Hirsch, Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Don McKenzie, baseball player Doug Baker and football coach Jim Fenwick.
